The Associated Press reported fifteen minutes ago that Representative John Murtha (D-PA) has died. Rest in peace, Congressman, and God Bless you and your family.

Fox News has an obituary, as does the New York Times.

However, at the same time, none of us are perfect, and none of us deserve God’s grace. We should put no qualifiers before or after asking God to allow Murtha’s soul to rest and asking Him to comfort Murtha’s family.

Criticisms are for another day.

From the remarkable corruption evident in the Abscam tapes to his egregious attempt to smear and create a hanging jury against the Haditha Marines Murtha went beyond personal avarice and corruption to selling out an organization composed of brave men who put their lives on the line for their country. May God have mercy on his soul since those of us aware of the life he lived are disinclined to do so.
