You will find as many Romney bashers. Or Huckabee. Or McCain. So are they all against Male Gender? This same website called for supporting Nikki Haley. You think that was because of gender.

I have yet to see any of the regulars with a bias.

PS: You will be surprised how many people here know a lot more about culture, politics, economy, war, terrorism, law etc… than average experts in media.

That alone would clear up a lot of this.

I don’t see anything that puts RedState as hating Women. It seems to have nothing to do with that, but rather the fact that those that got beat up a bit where stubborn and didn’t respond well to intellectual questions that posed to them. Maybe the best way to deal with stubborn people is to invoke the Hinz Rule for a while. Afterwords, they may not be so stubborn on it.

This is a conservative political website. We’re not the feminazis or the waitress sandwich club. That’s the other side.

When people criticize something Palin did, or even just say they don’t like her, that’s not a hack on women (or womyn) and it’s not even necessarily a hack on her.

On our side, we are perfectly willing to ream out one of our own if we think they are screwing the pooch. The other side circles the wagons and defends the indefensible.

You’ve got to get a tough skin and realize that we sometimes insult people we disagree with and sometimes those insults take on a gender aspect. None of us are pussies and we aren’t going to act like it in order to spread a false veneer of happy. And other than a couple of crotchety old men (I’m looking at you becker, art and Tbone) the guys are good ones. And those of us who know them, love the crotchety old men as well.

Relax and let the sarcasm, tough love, and back biting roll off you like water off a duck. There’s a lot to learn around here if you’re listening.

Most of us would support her and vote for her. All of us hope she turns out to be a powerhouse in support of conservatism.

It’s not that she wasn’t an “insider”, although the case can be made that she was the ultimate insider, it’s that she has managed to get where she is today knifing Republicans – and only Republicans – in the back. Hell, she could give John McCain lessons.

If you look at her – very short – record as Governor, it’s pretty short on accomplishment. A pipeline to nowhere that funneled $500M to a Canadian company, an excess-profits tax on producers, and a budget that grew like crazy.

And to top it all off, when the going got tough, she cut an ran and no amount of lipstick will make that pig pretty.

OTOH, she can serve red meat to the masses like nobody’s business. She may be a great fundraiser. She was very effective at picking a point and harpooning ObamaCare’s death panels. She has the potential to really contribute. What she doesn’t have the potential – in the near term – to be President.

Just kidding. Wrong, but I could not resist.

Unfortunately lately I don’t get to read RedState quite as thoroughly as I used to – life overruns the castle sometimes – so I don’t particulary know about who said what to whom about whom.

You’re upset (or disappointed or dismayed or something) about some perceived mysoginistic statements by some males (who may or may not be regulars for all I know) somewhere here in reference to Sarah Palin.

What did they say? Who said it? Where? What is the objection?

I don’t object to you airing your differences or issues. I’d just like to hear something more specific than “I’m unhappy about something”.

Kay?

ps – I can tell you with no reservations, there is an extremely robust, visible, and vocal female crowd here at RedState. I am friends with many of them. If they’re not unhappy, I doubt that I’m going to be unhappy.

Here are a couple of posts to me from last night:

Well, I’m an equal opportunity abuser; attack me, you better cover your vital parts. Since I thought you were a guy, I thought your most vital part was your brain, now I understand that you sit on it. Now, go take your hormone pills and come up with a better plan little girl.”

For the record, I said his comment was asinine, not that he was. I concede my words were a bit bristly…but seriously…this is an appropriate response? I guess it was a good thing that my gender was unknown originally when I was using my other screen name, wasn’t it?

The irony here is I don’t really buy into the “womyn power” thing. At all.

But what am I supposed to draw from these comments? “Hope you’re better at making beds and messing them”? “Since I thought you were a guy I thought your most vital part was your brain”? “Now go take your hormone pills and come up with a better plan little girl”?

Is there a reasonable, rational way to interpret these posts as not dripping with misogyny? And am I allowed to ask this question without being accused of “playing the victim card”?

Disagree with me when I write things. I can handle it. If it’s a fair criticism, I’ll back down and rethink. But come after me and call me names or rip into me because I’m a woman…

Why would anyone be surprised when that only amps up the conversation to a place it never needed to go?

I am a conservative woman who has been a member of RedState for more than four years. My username is a fairly clear indicator of my gender and my profile would confirm it if someone wasn’t sure.

I have never once sensed that any reaction to my comments (or infrequent blog postings) was related to my gender. I have never sensed that there was an attack on commenters purely for their gender…and yes I did read the thread in question.

In politics we all need to remember that “nice” is a bad quality. Politics is about fighting and if you try to fight nice, you lose. Conservatives are learning that and if our congresspersons don’t learn it soon they will be unemployed.

We also need to remember that if we want to be treated as equals we need to act like equals.

As a proud supporter of Gov. Palin, I see no reason to respond to criticism of her policies by crying sexism. Her ideas and values speak for themselves. Her death panel column alone was the turning point of the health care debate. The left is incapable of discussing issues without personal attacks. We actually discuss ideas here. Let’s keep it that way.

I don’t know about anyone else currently wading through this, but I for one refuse to use RedState as a sounding board for my PMS. This is not the venue.

Life is rough. Politics is rougher. People say crappy things and cut people down. They say things we may find offensive. It’s reality. The question is–what are you going to do about it? I mean, you could post a snarky diary on the internet complaining about this and that and claiming that you’re offended, and demand to see a change in the way things are done, or…

Or, you could USE YOUR BRAIN and fight words with substantive words. Don’t like the way people react to what you have to say? Change their minds! Don’t just throw yourself in a bubble bath and whine at me about your life–make me believe that 1) you believe what you have to say, and 2) that what you believe deserves my respect.

Consequently, respect here is earned. BELT UP or go home.

If you don’t like us because we don’t respect your identity political games, then I think we’ve accomplished our mission for the day.

It’s not 5pm on the East Coast, 4pm Central time. You girls in those time zones should be starting dinner now.

Been reading on RS more than a couple of years. Appears to be a tempest in the teapot .

Tolerance for the opinions of others is graphed on a bell curve here at RS. About a zillion people are in the great big hump in the middle. Then there are about 5 or thereabouts way way out at the left and right edges. Stop worrying about those 5 or so people. You’ll live a lot longer…At RS, anyway.

Cease crying foul and playing victim/damsel in distress/Blanche DuBois/whatever and use gender neutral reasoning and debate.

If you don’t like the way posters responded about Palin, defend your position, using the pen (in this case, the keyboard) to make your point to change minds – not “they’re gender biased”. Playing the gender card diminishes any credibility you might have.

Politics is a blood sport and your skin had better be a tad tougher than indicated in this diary.

As a woman, I find your whining smoke screen an insult to the women on this board that CAN make their points without playing the gender card.
