Robert Mueller successfully indicted Russians for defrauding the United States and trying to tilt our election dishonestly. Now the consequences begin.

All thirteen Russians Mueller indicted are now being targeted by US economic sanctions, according to Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin.

Mnuchin says Russia is involved in “ongoing nefarious attacks”, including internet-based hacking attempts. Mnuchin also appeared to be referring to Russia’s string of murders in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

The penalties freeze any assets the individuals and entities may have in the US and prohibits American citizens from conducting business with them.

The Trump administration also accused Russia on Thursday of an ongoing operation to hack and spy on the US power utilities.

This could cost some people some real money.
