Israel is serious about Jerusalem’s present and historical status as the capital of the nation. As Donald Trump prepares to open the first embassy in Jerusalem in years, Israel prepares to honor him for that. Here’s how.

The Israel government under Benjamin Netanyahu has precisely one concern when it comes to the US Embassy moving to Jerusalem: their own national interest. They don’t care about other issues or other politics, and so for Trump’s support for Israel, Israel is going to support him.

How will they do it? Well, Israel is already planning to extend the new high-speed railway connecting Tel-Aviv, Ben Gurion Airport, and Jerusalem. The extension will connect the line to the main Jerusalem Malha station. One of two stations in that extension will be named Donald John Trump Station. Specifically, they will be naming for Donald Trump the station in the Jewish Quarter near the Western Wall.

Trump is connecting US policy in Jerusalem to the history of Israel, and so Israel is connecting Trump’s name with the history of Jerusalem.
