If President Obama drops another point in the Gallup poll tomorrow, then the only Presidents to have fallen faster and worse than he will have been a one-termer and a guy who got impeached. Not only that, but no President ever had a worse Dow Jones Industrial Average drop on Inauguration day than he had, and that was before Death Panels, Health Rationing, flag@whitehouse.gov, rendition, Government Motors, Card Check, Cap and Tax, and the numerous foreign policy gaffes this embattled administration has inflicted upon itself. Add it all up and you get the undeniable fact that Barack Obama is on track to be a Miserable Failure™.
Do you like getting your diaries promoted to the Front Page? If so, consider not writing your post in Microsoft Word. Posts in that have to be cleaned up before being promoted, and given that most of us don’t get paid to do this stuff, diaries that need less time and energy to promote will get the promotion more often.

Congress Blast, a last warning shot before the 9/12 DC rally
njre Sunday, August 30th at 7:08PM EST (link)It is obvious that we cannot stop Obama and gang transforming our Constitutional Republic into a fascist, socialist, Marxist or communist country by fighting their corrupt policies and appointees one at a time.
Besides Grand Juries, lawsuits, state sovereignty movements, rallies, Congress is the one with the ultimate authority and power to vet a presidential candidate and remove a usurper. Congress and most of We the people know that Obama is constitutionally ineligible to be POTUS. Americans WILL NOT tolerate letting a usurper destroy America from within!
Let us conduct a ‘Congress Blast’ to blast them into carrying out their sworn duty to defend our nation from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Although congress has mostly turned deaf ears on us so far, some of them are beginning to openly challenge Obama’s citizenship. Obama’s own actions and attitude have weakened his and his Dem’s position. More and more people are demanding this issue to be addressed. The waves are building and building. We should keep riding the waves till they turn into tsunamis! Before the 9/12 DC rally to challenge Obama’s eligibility, we must insist that congress investigate Obama’s constitutional eligibility. The constitution has provisions for removing a usurper should Obama be found ineligible.
The usurper and gang have been shoving through heinous legislations after legislations, appointing myriads of unconstitutional czars and communist advisors, at lightning speed, to destroy everything that America stands for: government takeover of healthcare, cap and trade, amnesty of illegal aliens, card check, anti freedom of speech laws and FCC commissioners/advisors, anti rights to bear arms legislations, nationalizing banks, auto industry, insurance co., takeover of Census, empowering corrupt labor unions, ACORN and the likes….. the list goes on and on.
How much more will congress tolerate before they act to defend our Republic?
We have had enough! We won’t take it any more!
We must make the 9/12 rally a rally to force investigation of Obama’s eligibility! That is the only way to save our Republic!
So I am calling for all of us to give congress a final warning shot before the rally. We must conduct a massive ‘Congress Blast’ now – write to insist that they publicly demand Obama prove he is a US Constitution article 2 natural born citizen with undivided loyalty to United States, i.e. a person born to 2 US citizen parents, constitutionally eligible to be the president of United States! When Obama is found to be constitutionally ineligible he will be removed from the position of the presidency and everything he ever did in the capacity of the presidency will be null and void.
Let us all send to the Republican Congress a brief but precise message (let us all speak in one voice):
Senators, Congressmen,
We, the American people, will not take it any more!
FACT: Mr. Obama has not proven himself to be constitutionally eligible to be the president of United States. He claimed to be a natural born citizen to the state of Arizona but has not even provided a hard-copy of his original, long form, vaulted birth certificate from wherever, Hawaii or Kenya or Indonesia or Canada! The online digital image of a prima facie ‘Certification of Live Birth’ posted by the unauthorized, non-governmental Factcheck.org is NOT conclusive proof of his citizenship status, let alone his status as a constitution article 2 natural born citizen, which is an absolute constitutional requirement for the US presidency – the requirement for the president to have undivided loyalty to the United States.
FACT: all of you in congress know the fact mentioned above.
FACT: Mr. Obama has undoubtedly manifested the clear and present danger of a person with divided loyalty. He is, in effect, the enemy from within. (Why is he pushing all sorts of unconstitutional policies? Why do you and all of us have to fight all his anti-American policies and appointees?)
FACT: this is strictly a matter of Constitution, any claim otherwise is pure nonsense.
FACT: it is way overdue that Mr. Obama be thoroughly vetted NOW. If he is an article 2 natural born citizen he should have no objection to providing all vital documents to prove it, just as Senator John McCain had readily provided his original birth certificate when requested for Resolution 511.
It is absolutely mind-boggling and unbelievable that Mr. Obama has spent over a million dollars to hire attorneys to SEAL ALL his vital documents and records, including his original birth certificate!
We the people have had enough. We absolutely WILL NOT take it any more! This is our last friendly warning. A line is drawn in the sand.
To act or not to act to remove the usurper? A choice you must make NOW!

Don't underestimate what is going on
avgamerican (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 8:53PM EST (link)BHO is in fact the most radical president we have ever had. This is not republican vs democrat politics as usual. We have a shadow gov’t. One in which they are working over time to bypass the Constitution to enact a radical agenda. Obama has appointed radical czars to oversee his policies, a strategy to keep these people out of the public light. He may be a natural citizen with unnatural roots and influences which is probably more the point. And he is apparently going through alot of expense and trouble to block the American people from seeing his background. So I would not down play the significance of it.
And by the time anything is in the open,
Steph C (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 9:05PM EST (link)it won’t matter because it will be too late. Whether it’s a birth certificate or something else in his records which makes it a waste of energy and dollars that could be used to fight the takeover that is happening before our eyes.
To me, it’s all in picking battles you can win and that’s one that can’t be because Obama has resources that you don’t. Why not fight the battles we have to fight to stop what’s happening and worry about that one later?

McCain decided he was not going to go after BHO's past and look what happened.
avgamerican (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 9:30PM EST (link)That’s where the whole battle was then. POTUS knows what would happen if his affiliations are discussed in the open that’s why Glenn Beck is being targeted. They know he is a political threat to them. POTUS knows very well he maybe a one term president already. His specific purpose is to destroy us economically (healthcare cap and trade) and militarily (dismantling of CIA defense cut backs) so we will be vulnerable to international threats (economic military take over disolving our soveriegnty). Did you know that Mark LLoyd, BHO’s FCC chairman is pushing 100% taxation of conservative talk radio? Did you know that this man praises Hugo Chavez’ socialist revolution? This stuff has too be aired. The American voters have to know what BHO really is. By all means, I think the American people have the right to know where BHO really came from, natural born citizen or not.
McCain also failed to go after the Dems on Fannie/Freddie
6eorge Jetson (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 9:38PM EST (link)with any amount of vigor. McCain’s campaign manager had taken a goodly sum of fees from Fannie, and rather than face that discomforting relationship, McCain let the credit crisis be pinned on Republicans, when it was the Dems that supplied the critical mass of suckers.
McCain was in a dead-even race w/ Obama until Lehman went bankrupt on 9/15.
Yes, yes, yes. I know.
Steph C (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 9:40PM EST (link)No one is going to convince you or any other that he’s not a legitimate president. In the end, you may even be right. I don’t think you are but I’m not infallible and don’t pretend to be.
The point is that it is a losing battle at the present time. The Democrats have control of the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. At the speed our courts move anything you find, true or false will come too late, if ever, since there are so many liberals in the courts through which you have to proceed.
Let’s say… oh… ten years down the road everything you suspected turns out to be true. Will it comfort you when you rise in the mornings and move about our new socialist country? Obama does not act alone in this or anything else and those helping him will not give up power easily so we have to prevent them getting it in the first place.
Once he was elected it was too late so let’s fight the battles where we have a chance of winning, although at times it seems a slim chance. It’s better than fighting one where there’s no chance of winning.

We can absolutely beat BO etal on I.S.S.U.E.S!
mbecker908 (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 10:13PM EST (link)Just like we beat Clinton on issues. Then we decided to impeach him for the hell of it and we got our heads handed to us.
If we concentrate on real issues – health care; the economy, etc – we will beat the crap out of him. If we give the idiots a foothold on the “birther” crap we will once again leave the playing field with our heads detached.
Yes Mark Lloyd is, or will be, an issue.
TNJim (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 10:31PM EST (link)But right now the big ones are health care and cap and trade. That;s where the fight needs to be focused, with a wary eye on Lloyd, Susstein, Jones, et. al. We certainly don’t need to focus, or keep a wary eye, on the birther BS. If somebody gets something rolling on that, fine. But we got two bigger fights right now, and frankly the left is trying to use the birther nonsense on us over those, trying to distract us.
I think you listened to Britcom too much.
No, but I am listening to Glenn Beck
avgamerican (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 10:57PM EST (link)What he is bringing to the open is obviously causing a stir in the BHO administration. They know where their vulnerable. Now the question is, is their a republican candidate willing to take on the fight to expose Obama and his hordes? I’m not sure. This is why it may be up to talk radio, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and redstate posters to force it out in the debate. BHO has to be forced to admit or deny his radical alliances. BHO can not be allowed to hide behind traditional liberal talking points. GOP congressional leaders should be asking BHO right now, why he has appointed an admitted communist to a white house post. Why aren’t they?
OK, so you are fundamentally ignorant.
mbecker908 (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 11:26PM EST (link)You only pick the fights that are meaningful and that you’ve got a really good shot at winning. Break the back of nationalizing heath care – and I’m not talking about a negotiated “solution” – and kill cap and trade, kill off card check, basically stop the major legislative issues and we have a shot at bringing BO down.
Frankly, not enough people give a damn about appointments, or even understand what they do, to make any difference at all. Stimulus money going to ACORN is a much, much bigger deal than his appointments. Stop the cash, put pressure on State AGs to prosecute them and you’ll do far more damage than the “commie” and “birther” bull s&&t.

The left gave us the framework to impeach Bush
medamorphus (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 4:08AM EST (link)Here is wha the left said in their set-up for impeachment of Bush. All the points apply to Obama, and in only eight months.
“Under the Constitution, the president has three central obligations.”
“First, the president must “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States.” This is part of the oath of office, which is itself mandated by the Constitution. ”
“Second, the president must “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,” also part of the oath of office. In other words, the president is required to respect the role of the Congress and the courts, as well as the fundamental liberties reserved to the citizens. ”
“And third, the president is required “to take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,” an affirmative duty imposed directly by the Constitution. This presidential obligation carries great weight. Involved are two responsibilities, similar but separate: first, the president is required to “take care,” or to be highly attentive, and, second, the president must see that the laws are “faithfully executed,” or that the laws are fully followed. Combined, these impose a very strict burden on the president to ensure the proper implementation of the nation’s laws. “
And [drum roll] two more reasons to love the Cheneys.

are you kidding--they can't get of enough of bashing Palin
LISA BULLOCK-HOCK (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 8:19PM EST (link)Most VP candidates on the loosing side just go away–I think that is what Sara Palin was going to do, but the liberals in their infinite wisdom, just couldn’t let her go. It became acceptable to hang her in effigy, trash her family, constantly write tabloid stories that her and her husband are getting a divorce, talk about her daughter’s in very inappropriate ways (Letterman), and it was funny to liberals. They just couldn’t get enough of themselves. I can’t imagine David Letterman still having a job if the same joke was made about President Obama’s children. He would have been chased out of NY by an angry pitchfork carrying mob.
So what they have done is kept her in the news, when she speaks people listen to what she has to say. Just look at face book, and her comments about death panels. She really started getting this healthcare debate really fired up, because people still listen to her because the liberals would not leave her alone. It’s looks as though their liberal misdeeds have come back to bite them in the butt. Serves them right.

It really strikes me funny how people said that she was an idiot, ect… they don’t get by the people, of the people, for the people? Do they really want leaders that think of them as peasants and constantly talk over them? I can’t understand why someone that speaks simply and not down to people and not over their heads is stupid? I just think that some people are just so uninformed, they can’t really find their way out of a political paper bag.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Not hardly.
mbecker908 (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 8:43PM EST (link)Palin cut and run from an elected office to do… we still don’t know what.
The excuse she gave for resigning is more than enough to convince me that I’d probably never vote for her, at least in a primary.
So far, she’s nothing more than a commenter, a reasonably effective one, but nothing more. On the national political stage she’d get ripped to pieces because she’s got an extraordinarily thin resume – like maybe zero actual accomplishments – and she won’t have the media to cover for her like Zero.
I think she can probably be reasonably effective at rallying the base and maybe raising money and working as a commentator. Beyond that, at least for the next 20 years or so, she’ll not be holding or even seriously contesting political office.
Palin does, however, have more experience than Obama
SoFiMil (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 10:49PM EST (link)In the first few days after Palin was announced as the Veep, I was very surprised to hear liberals bring up her “lack of experience” as Obama has even less and has never led anything. I’d be interested in anyone’s analysis why this point the liberals emphasized, including a major gaffe by Biden on the first day of McCain’s announcement, never came back to hurt Obama. There was an early attempt by conservatives to use Palin’s “inexperience” against Obama, but it didn’t stick. (It may be that nothing would have stuck. I mean, even Obama’s infanticide vote didn’t shock 53% of voters.)

mbecker908 (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 11:15PM EST (link)We expect people in high positions to be competent and have some relevant experience. The Ds don’t give a damn, all they care about is image.
Secondly, the media will cover up a lack of competency on the part of a D and beat the R on the issue on the same page.
Frankly, it was difficult to make a case about Obama’s lack of experience and competency with a candidate like McCain who has no real experience other than being a Senator, which is to say, he has no experience. And in McCain’s case his competency can be argued.
One of the major reasons nothing “stuck” to BO is because John Loser McCain didn’t pursue anything. He refused to fight. Just like Bush who, if it hadn’t been for the SwiftVets, would have gotten his head handed to him by Kerry.

Imagine: Jindal/Haley or Jindal/Williams (Michael) also, I see Jindal as a good choice for Romney’s VP if he wins the nom, as Romney can talk health care, but Jindal can. But, Jindal is from a red state. We need someone from a blue/swing state. Romney is good because he’s the former governor of Massachusetts with deep roots in Michigan. I doubt he could deliver MA for us, but MI is very possible. Then, for his VP, he could pick Cantor or McDonnell, depending on how he is polling in VA, Pawlenty to deliver MN, Roy Blunt (if he wins) for MO, Rob Portman (again, if he wins) for OH, if Rubio wins he could deliver FL for us.
Nancy Pelosi can kiss my asstroturf.

I’d bath in my own excriment before I’d vote for Romney, Pawlenty, or any of the other “Big Tent” crap weasels out there…
The only other possible I’d even give a second look to would be Huckabee…(easy mbeck…I’m not all in for him by any means…but hear me out)…I supported him last year as the better of a bunch of bad choices….I never liked the fact that he caved as governor and made that state of the state address where he want through a laundry list of tax increases he’d agree to if the Dems wanted to pass it…but given the behavior of those during the pork barrel follies last spring when everyone said we’d all die if they didn’t vote for Porkulous…Huckabee was the lone voice out there out right opposing it. I take him for an articulate clown for the most part…but he deserves credit for being out front in opposition when the res of our so called leadership were curled up in a ball licking thermselves in abject fear and terror last spring!
He's peaked.

TNJim (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 10:12PM EST (link)By left a tag open I mean a HTML code tag. I’d love to show what I mean but the site would try to use it an it would not show up.
Hmm…
Ok, let me try this. Here’s one example of a tag that would make text bold,
“b”your text here”/b” Now, instead of quotation marks use the Arrows on your keyboard, the ones you get when you use the shift key and and the comma and period keys. on the first “b” put the left pointing arrow on, yup, the left side of the b and the right pointing one on the other side. No spaces!
Same for the “/b” By the way, that slash makes the second one a close tag. If you don’t use the slash, everything you type after that will be in bold.
Here it is in action: your text here.
BTW, since you use firefox, there’s a simple way to do this without typing out all that code. Text Formatting Toolbar, a FireFox add-on. Just highlight your text and click the code type you want in the toolbar. Makes doing hyperlinks easy.
I wondered why everyone recommended Firefox...

Ausonius (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 10:48AM EST (link)Angel Merkel’s German conservatives (CDU) lost state elections over the weekend, even though they enjoy a double-digit lead in the polls: the blame is being put on a McCain-style “above the fray” campaign:
An excerpt:
“Philipp Missfelder, a member of the CDU’s board, urged Merkel to abandon her cool campaign style and show a bit more “passion”.
“After an until-now sober and unpolitical election campaign, it is time for some more emotion,” he said, adding his voice to a chorus of complaints.
Although the Free Democrats boosted their score in Sunday’s polls, their general secretary Dirk Niebel also appeared nervous that the centre-right camp’s strong lead would fizzle.
“If the Union (Merkel’s conservative bloc) does not start making clear what it would like to achieve then there is a great danger that they will blow it again because voters will think they want to continue with the grand coalition,” he told public radio.”
(The FDP forms a ruling coalition with the CSU: they are best described as JFK Democrats-cum-libertarians (I know, quite a mix!) )

“Some more emotion!” Which also translates as “Define What You Believe In!”
Good advice for “compromisers” among Republicans in the Senate and elsewhere.

My 'pewter has MS Word '07
Warrior (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 10:50AM EST (link)but I use the RS diary writer thing. Does that eliminate me? And sometimes the thing will change fonts on me while I’m writing and I don’t know how to change it back. Is that what ya’ll are talking about?
I humbly think at least one of my diary’s was frontpage worthy. In any event, I would like to be on the same “page” so to speak, with everyone else at RS. Help.

Come to think of it
Warrior (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 9:25PM EST (link)however, the diaries which have mysteriously changed fonts are the ones I wrote on Word and cut and pasted to the RS diary writer thing. Any way to avoid that?

Warrior (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 10:53AM EST (link)any comment in which the text section is blank. I thought that was eliminated with the new RS system. I am so technologically backwards…

You can't write n/t only (nt) or -nt- etc. (nt)

Why not expand the regexp?
Finrod (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 1:09PM EST (link)All you’d need is the same bit that’s before and after the [nN][tT] in the regexp also between the N and T. Then it would also work for me and Moe. (-:
Let’s get down to brass tacks here. How much for the ape?
I didn't know people used n/t when I wrote it (nt)

Not a problem
Finrod (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 1:43PM EST (link)Personally, I’d rather have some kind of option that would keep RedState from changing my smilies into graphics. I take my sig self-quote seriously, after all! (-: <— not converted because it’s reversed, only way I’ve found around it

How to deal with Intelligence officers
ashland_avenue (Diary) Monday, August 31st at 1:39PM EST (link)The clothing of a Libyan intelligence officer is found amongst wreckage of the Pan Am flight which exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland. A timer which could be used in detonations is also found in the wreckage and linked to him.
The officer was charged and found guilty of the terrorist act. His nation campaigns for years and figures a way to earn his release from a Scottish prison.
Compare that with:
Three thousand are killed in terrorist attacks on NYC and Washington. Arab terrorists claim responsibility.
American intelligence officers interrogate several captured terrorists.
The information they obtain in aggressive interrogations probably saves thousands of lives. A plot to cut the cables of a US bridge is upset. And more.
The American administration decides several years later to investigate the intel operatives and the attorneys who justified their acts.
