Weeding The GOP

LoneApple (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 9:15AM EST (link)

I would love my fellow Republicans to take a principled stance that just because someone who is corrupt is on our side, he must be defended to the end. Personally, I don’t care about affiliation when it comes to crime. A Republican criminal is no different than a Democrat criminal in my eyes – they are both trash and deserve to be tossed where trash goes.

I will never support a Republican who sinks to this level in the same way that I will never support a RINO. We need the best of us in office not the ones who are only in it for themselves.

LizVBronx (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 9:27AM EST (link)

I am still mad about the election, and I will exhibit the same contempt and disdain for their president as they did for mine. This is my own personal vengeance, please don’t ask me to “let it go”. That being said, does anyone think that there will ever be any kind of criticism of the One?

Will we be subjected daily to his prophecies and self-glorification?

I am worried this race thing will keep criticism at bay, as it kept the fact from being disseminated during the election.

I don’t give two shakes that he is black. It makes no difference;

I am reminded of the mayorship of David Dinkins here in NY. Again, he was elected for the wrong, very shallow reasons. After a disastrous 4 years (crime went up, negatively affecting those who thought would be helped most by his mayorship) we got 8 years of Giuliani and 8, now maybe 12 or Bloomberge. 16-20 years of Republican leadership.

I am hoping this is what happens..but we are dealing with the world, not just NYC.

Ah! the emotions! I am trying to deal…..

“By Executive Order Of The President……….”

It’s coming and it’s coming in droves.

One thing I fully expect to see (and I’m serious) is the “change” of Veterans Day to some sort of “National Celebration Of Peace And Non-Violence Day”.

It makes me physically ill to think of this person in the Oval Office.

All the trash dug up and displayed on The One didn’t change just because he’s won. He is still the same guy that was exposed on the campaign trail, even though the people who voted for him have turned a blind eye. Any other campaign would have imploded with the revelations that came about Obama.

I can’t watch the news and hear them gush over the Pres-elect and all his almighty plans about a b-ball court and his executive orders to handed down from his thrown.

Open thread and all-I’ve read everything I could find(a lot) about Obama’s birth issue and if the statements being repeated are fact why oh why is this not being pushed in the MSM and an every blog? Dec. 1 deadline to produce a long form birth certificate and/or pledge to reaffirm citizenship is no little issue if the Obama camp does not produce them. They tried the fake one and it got him through the election when will we see his records-all of them?

I do not pick my political party as I do my favorite team. I stick by my team regardless of the head coach, QB or defensive coordinator. But politically, I demand 3 things from my party: 1) a conservative economic policy, with little government intervention, low taxes and litle spending; 2) the WISE use of military power, the willingness to use military power but in a wise and thoughtful manner and use it to WIN; and 3) an objection to filthy and corruption, be it opposition to homosexuals or financial corruption. On all 3 counts, it is easy to argue that the Bush/Cheney administration failed; the McCain candidacy did not hold out hope on all 3 (albeit Obama’s candidacy much worse). But when I see the state of the economy, the folly of Iraq and Cheney smiling with his grandaughter with 2 Mommies, I am very disappointed with my party. We must be ever vigilant in fighting for our 3 priorities and purging those in our party who are against us. I believe these 3 issues echo the feelings of the majority of the American people; now we just need a candidate(s) who will be true to these principles.

Big Bang

Scope (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 9:44AM EST (link)

Headlines on Drudge today-

Obama to use executive orders for immediate impact… Big Bang

Yesterday Podesta said on TV that Obama is reviewing the executive orders signed by Bush. Two of the orders he is looking are, the ban on federally funding stem cell research, and the lifting of the ban on domestic drilling. With the advances in stem cell research, not federally funded, in using skin and teeth for example, what would the purpose be to lift the funding ban? Is that his way of saying I promised you a culture of death and here is the start of it all! And reimposing the ban on domestic drilling should really be a big bang for Obama, just not the bang he expects or wants. Didn’t something like 80% of the population scream to drill here, drill now. And that 80% of support had to come from both party members. I didn’t think the country was 80% republican.

Bring it on Pres. Obama, the sooner the better, and the sooner you will turn off even your supporters.

I am sick and tired of the race card. I voted for McCain- because of Sarah Palin, I did not vote for Obama, because he is a Marxist. It had nothing to do with race.
My only hope is that the damage Obama does is fixable. That Obama is the 21st century Jimmy Carter- and Sarah Palin or someone like her is our next Ronald Reagan.
Plus- I am sick and tired of hearing about Rick Perry as a “leader” for the party- he is a RINO!! So is Kay Bailey Hutchinson- we need to get them out of the party.
I would love to see a list of RINO’s that we need to get rid of. It’s HUNTING season.

I find it interesting

that many on the left are now calling in to conservative radio stations spouting the “why can’t we all just get along and accept the new president” message. Unbelievable! After watching the last eight years of constantly slamming President Bush, even after the first election (04), I find this unbelievable. All I heard was “He isn’t my president!”, “Bush is a nazi”, and “Bush lied, people died”.

I will give to the left, and Mr. Obama, the same measure they met with Mr. Bush. I did not agree with GW’s policies, but felt he was better than the opposition. I did not however treat him with the disdain the left did. But since liberals are all about fairness and equlity…

The New York Times’ Eric Lichtblau takes a look at a potential Attorney General nominee in the nascent Barack Obama administration — and it’s a familiar face. Jamie S. Gorelick may be on Obama’s short list for AG, but she has been a familiar face during the Bush administration, too. Gorelick served under Janet Reno during the Clinton administration and played a critical role in blinding counterterrorism efforts prior to 9/11:

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

The 2010 Senate race

robertallen Monday, November 10th at 10:13AM EST (link)

There are 18 GOP seats and 15 Dem seats up for re-election in 2010. To me the race that will tell the “story” is in North Dakota. EVERY statewide office in ND save the US Senate and House is held by Republicans. This is a red state, pure and simple. Yet, for cycle after cycle, ND has re-elected Dorgan, Conrad and Pomeroy (House). There is NO doubt that Obama will Govern from the far left, from the Courts to the military. If we go into 2010 with (God love him) hard-charging Duane Sand as our perennial candidate to take on the Democrat incumbent, then that tells me that we probably are destined to be the minority party for decades. If, however, Ed Schaeffer or John Hoeven or one of our long bench of Republican statewide office holders rises up and beats the liberal Dorgan, THEN I will believe this is a momentary blip and we are ready (again) to be a majority party.

I’ve said before that I promise to treat President elect Obama with the same respect and fairness that was shown to President Bush.Things might be different if I was not aware of how corrupt BHO is, the vote fraud associated with his campaign, the illegal campaign contributions, the cheer leading for BHO by the MSM, the trashing of Sarah Palin and her children and the disgraceful conduct of the left toward President Bush.If I didn’t know all these things I would be able to accept the election results and move on.After all I don’t even like McCain and I voted for Sarah Palin and not McCain. But I do know all these things and I’m disgusted that BHO is now POTUS.I did not like or respect Bill Clinton but I thought he won fairly with an assist from Ross Perot so I could accept the election results and move on.The election of BHO leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, so much so that I will enjoy making his followers miserable for the next four years.

Signing executive orders is a way to make it look like he’s doing something and that the “change” he promised is really coming. The sheep who voted for him probably have no idea that all Presidents do this when they first come into office.I’ll be interested in seeing if he really signs the EO banning domestic drilling. Oil prices are currently in free fall even with OPEC cutting production.Oil is also the life blood of Islamic terrorists. Just the threat of off shore drilling in the US could crash oil prices. Gasoline is now below $2 a gal in some parts of the US.If President Obama signs this EO banning domestic drilling and gasoline prices rise to say $3-5 a gallon in 2009. That “tax increase” on the “poor” and “middle class” could be directly tied to President Obama since he and his party are on record as being in favor of higher gasoline prices as a way of curbing consumption. When you sign an EO you can’t sign it with the word “present”.

I'm confused about that Cheney remark

TrackerNeil Monday, November 10th at 10:47AM EST (link)

Robertallen, you said:

“ut when I see the state of the economy, the folly of Iraq and Cheney smiling with his grandaughter with 2 Mommies, I am very disappointed with my party.”

I’m not exactly sure what the family specifics of Cheney’s granddaughters have to do with “the folly of Iraq”, but I’m assuming you are expressing moral displeasure with the choices (and, by implication, the sexual orientation) of Mary Cheney.

Obviously, you’re free to place your moral disapproval as you will, but isn’t that criticism of a candidate’s personal life equivalent to those who criticized Sarah Palin for the pregnancy of her daughter Bristol? Unless something major has changed since McCain nominated Palin, a pregnant unmarried teenage daughter means that an underage, unmarried girl was having sex, which meets with the moral disapproval of many. If the specifics of Cheney’s family life are eligible for public, moral criticism, then aren’t Palin’s as well?

Close your mind to the forthcoming increased slaughter of the unborn, or just born, to be funded with your tax dollars.
Keep telling yourself that this and much more is progress, as in progressive. That the “horror” of the past eight years under Bush is over.

A Revelation

John_Wayne (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 11:57AM EST (link)

Folks,
This election is a revelation. Our country has elected a socialist (possibly Marxist) President, and a majority of the same ilk to the Congress. This is where our country is, not we conservatives, but the majority of our citizens. It is an outrage that the voter fraud perpetrated by ACORN and the Democrat party was tolerated. But the sad truth is BHO would have won anyway without it. There was no need for them to cheat. I believe that at the heart of this election outcome is one thing:

Too many Americans are profoundly ignorant!

Our children have been brainwashed for years in public school and then college with Socialist doctrine. It is not, per se, called Socialism in school, but that is what it is. The only solution for our future is to start on a child’s first day of school to teach success, hard work, responsibility, and self-determination. Children need to understand that there are rewards for success, for making the effort to improve their life through gaining knowledge and knowing truth. They need to know that their failures caused by apathy and failing to think for themselves will bring them no reward and make their lives worse in the long run. The social engineering in schools needs to stop. The purpose of school is to endow the future generations with knowledge, truth, and discipline to secure their future. Our educational system is a total failure. I see it getting worse under the next administration. The Socialist Democrats know it is easy to ‘rule’ ignorant people. Our education system will soon go from bad to worse. I, like many others, do not have the ability to send my children to good private schools or do the home schooling thing. I have, however, taken the time to talk to my children about our political system, the evils of the Democrat agenda, and the virtues of Conservative principles. I have raised 5 strong Conservatives, and that will probably be my greatest contribution to their future and our country. It is my experience that the Socialist brainwashing my children encountered in public school has been effectively countered through my deliberate teaching of the dismal, dark, and evil nature of the Socialist’ agenda.

I know there are many veterans on RS, and I’m sure most share my horror in seeing this country take this politically hard left turn. Our ignorant population has succeeded in bringing about the Socialist State that we fought the Cold War to prevent. It looks like the Soviets were right that the US would fall from within. Yes, the results of our latest election are that profound and dire. I don’t know if the US will survive the ravages that Socialism will bgring.

Lastly, if you haven’t read it, I would implore all of you to read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged”. It is a quite a long novel which takes a while to read, but I think you’ll find many treasures in it to take with you. …”who is John Galt?”

The Seattle flag-waving thing irritates me to no end, not the least of which is it’s my hometown and a person from my neighborhood was quoted blithely expectorating this vile sentiment.

These are the same people who now want us to “come together” with them now that The One has been elected. We’ll support him in his office, not because they asked (they don’t deserve to pick and chose “their America”), but because we are not so narcissistic to think we can tear a President down and still retain self-respect.

Basically, we on the right have class, and those on the left have shown, repeatedly, they don’t. I have no respect for them, and no expectation they will stand by ME when necessary.

Back to the future

2BlueStar Mom (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 12:51PM EST (link)

What a journey we’ve been on!

A blizzard in Fall.

That flicker of light amidst the storm, has almost dissipated.

I sure hope we get our light back.

While Rome has been burning and Nero-bama playing his fiddle, I have to say, it kept my mind off the fire in my own backyard.

It’s been more like a nightmare, for me anyway.

I am getting over the shock of McCain/Palin not being elected.

Now I am back to the future, fighting to avoid the numbness. Fighting, not to be a statistic.

I am one of the millions who is facing the malignant cancer that has spread like the plague in our country.

Many and perhaps most, have been directly affected by this malignant economic meltdown.

One of the most painful things for me to endure this year, was watch our country being sold out for 30 pieces of silver.

The other most painful thing is, to have had to tell, the whole world, directly or indirectly, I am going to lose my property, due to impending foreclosure.

I don’t like being here.

I have had my land listed all over the internet for many months now, trying to sell it.

The odds for selling, at this time, have no doubt been against me.

Humility, depression, hopelessness, embarrassment, desperation, doesn’t seem to have the intensity or effect, it once did.

In the course of this plight, I have found thousands of others like myself, gasping for air, hoping for a quick cure, hoping the waters will subside, a life boat will come by, to no avail.

Some folks blame the homeowners, entirely, that this was their careless abandon or disregard for not being more frugal.

While that may be true in some cases, it’s not true in all cases. Certainly not mine.

Don’t be so harsh please. You would not believe some of the horror stories, that delivered them to that dark place.

I have tried everything within my power, to stop this.

To disclose the avalanche of circumstances that brought me to this place, how I got here, isn’t going to change anything, regardless.

The fact is, nothing can help at this time, unless it’s a parting of the red sea, miracle.

Time is not on my side either, quite frankly.

January, 2009, my land is going to be put on the auction block.

That surely doesn’t help.

So, with our economy in the worse condition it has been in, with the exception of the great depression, I hope somehow, sometime soon, this mess will be corrected.

I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Can we look with hope to a better future?

I perceive it won’t be anytime soon, at least not another 4 years.

I also perceive I may get criticized by my favorite critics due to my lack of eloquent, unsubstantial posting style.

Look at the bright side; I didn’t post a diary and take up important space.

Supported Obama

William Weld, former Republican governor of Massachusetts: “It’s not often you get a guy with his combination of qualities, chief among which I would say is the deep sense of calm he displays, and I think that’s a product of his equally deep intelligence.”

Christopher Buckley, son of William F. Buckley Jr.: “Let me be the latest conservative/libertarian/whatever to leap onto the Barack Obama bandwagon. It’s a good thing my dear old mum and pup are no longer alive. They’d cut off my allowance.”

Arne Carlson, former governor of Minnesota: “I consider myself a Republican maverick.”

Scott McClellan, former spokesman for President George W. Bush: “I will be voting for Barack Obama… I am going to support the candidate that has the best chance for changing the way Washington works and getting things done.”

Charles Fried, Solicitor General in Reagan’s Administration: Said he voted for Obama by absentee ballot because of “the choice of Sarah Palin at a time of deep national crisis.”

Ken Adelman, former Pentagon official and adviser under Presidents Ford, Reagan, and George W. Bush: “Why so, since my views align a lot more with McCain’s than with Obama’s? And since I truly dread the notion of a Democratic President, Democratic House, and hugely Democratic Senate? Primarily for two reasons, those of temperament and of judgment.”

Lincoln Chafee, former Republican senator from Rhode Island: “It’s a different John McCain. Seeing the two different John McCains is a fracture in his credibility.”

James Leach, former Republican Iowa congressman: “Thousands of other Republicans are going to be picking country over party in this election.”

Susan Eisenhower, business consultant and author, daughter of President Eisenhower’s brother, John: “I am convinced that Barack Obama is the one presidential candidate today who can encourage ordinary Americans to stand straight again; he is a man who can salve our national wounds and both inspire and pursue genuine bipartisan cooperation.”

Attacked Palin

David Frum, former Bush speechwriter: “The McCain campaign has Palinized itself to make the most of its last asset. To fire up the Republican base, the McCain team has hit at Barack Obama as an alien, a radical and a Socialist. … The very same campaign strategy that has belatedly mobilized the Republican core has alienated and offended the great national middle, which was the only place where the 2008 election could have been won.”

David Brooks, self-styled conservative columnist for New York Times: “[Palin] represents a fatal cancer to the Republican party.”

Peggy Noonan, former Reagan speechwriter: “[Palin] does not speak seriously but attempts to excite sensation… she has spent her time throwing out tinny lines to crowds she doesn’t, really, understand. This is not a leader, this is a follower. She could re-inspire and re-inspirit; she chooses merely to excite. She doesn’t seem to understand the implications of her own thoughts.”

78% of GOP Voters Say Next President Likely to Be A Republican

Here’s this:

“Forty-five percent (45%) of Republican voters are Very Confident that a candidate from their party will be the next president after Barack Obama, contrary to reports that suggest the GOP may be demoralized from the Democrat’s big win last Tuesday.”

And this:

“But a plurality of unaffiliated voters (47%) see it as at least somewhat likely that a GOP candidate will be the next president, and 29% say that is Very Likely. Only five percent (5%) of unaffiliateds think it is not at all likely.”

Don't be afraid to talk

John_Wayne (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 5:19PM EST (link)

to your friends, family members, etc. There will soon be ample evidence of just what our nation has voted in.

Now here’s a question for you:

Are the Democrats innocent and ignorant of just what their policies are going to do to this country, or do they fully understand that they are going to kill our economy, and that is their ultimate goal (pretty diabolical, huh?)

The outcome on our economy is going to be the same. I see a depression on its way. Times of severe economic depression avail themselves to drastic political upheaval. That is basically what sent the Germans and Russians down the dark roads they took in the last century. If you are starving, it is much easier to give up your freedom for the sake of your survival (food). Our situation is that dire. I truly believe that the leadership of the Democrat party is fully aware of what they are doing and are going to turn out to be extreme Socialists if not Marxists. I hope our country will come to its senses before it is too late.

One more suggestion:

Buy some firearms, and lots and lots of ammunition…brass and lead will soon become the most precious of metals.

Some on this blog may think I’m off the deep end. But there is too much history to ignore. Obama is already talking about stopping all off-shore oil/gas drilling, and also on-shore drilling. Read the Drudge report and digest what the Democrats are planning. We are in for it! Better accept that you lifestyle is going to be severely cut back.

Read “Atlas Shrugged” if you haven’t.
The crap the Democrats have in store for us has been around a long time. They are the party of the culture of death. It shows in their moral values and the legislation they come up with.

They are evil, and I’m not going to apologize for saying it. Lord, help us…

Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.

Fred Thompson for GOP Chair?

The D.C. Examiner is reporting that Fred may seek the chairmanship of the GOP that would begin in January 2009.

Hope Not

Dissing Fred is not too popular around here, butI hope this is not true. We don’t need a “frontporch” Chairman.

We need somone who undertands the new politics iof technology, can grasp modern demographics including the youth and the new immigrants and has the drive to to throw themselves into the fray.

Why do you think

youthgrunt (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 10:12PM EST (link)

the chairman of the GOP needs to be that?

But in reality, Fred’s social networking/web strategy was more innovative than most. He was working with phone banking from your own home where I did not see anyone else on the Republican side doing that. I think his team was actually very good on that aspect of things.

The real area of concern is not his ability to deal with technology. It is whether or not he would deal with the organizational issues properly. But for me, I am more concerned about MESSAGE for the next couple of years. And Fred is VERY good on message.

Who else can you think of? Newt has been mentioned. I like Newt, but he brings baggage and a bit of confrontation that may or may not be helpful. I don’t know that he is particularly better on the demographics issue you are talking about.

In many ways, I see this as a multi-front effort. Cantor as Whip. Pence as House Republican Conference Chair. Fred (or ?) as Chairman of the GOP. I think we are looking to put a lot of quality Conservatives–who communicate conservatism well–into positions of leadership where they will have the platform to do that communication.

Distress

Like I said, I am a statistic. I don’t like where I am, but I do believe that our country is on alert.

It saddens me to see how many wonderful citizens are in this boat and some are so much worse off than many of us.

The flags are at half mass and flying upside down.

This is a huge wake up call and we are heeding that call.

We just need to remember who is in control and get back to our strong principals.

No Compromise!
