One could argue that government should be sort of a safety net for certain things, but that leads to several points:
- If government wastes money on crap projects, then there is less available for safety net purposes.
- If government lets generations of families suck on its teat without ever forcing them to move over to the producing side of the equation, then there is less available for safety net purposes.
- If government is overtaxing people, then it makes it more likely that hard-working people will need help than if they were able to have extra money to deal with rainy days themselves.
- And if we are borrowing money for crap stimulus project and other wasteful purposes, then we guarantee that things will be worse for our children than they are for us.
