of social conservatives are also fiscal conservatives (something some of our more socially moderate brothers & sisters don't seem to understand). I would add to your cogent reason the fact that it is immoral to spend someone else's money (in this case your kid's and grandkid's) for your own money. I think that's called theft. It is also, IMHO, there is such a dearth of politicians who are truly 'social moderates and fiscal conservatives. In the end, IMO, fiscal conservatism is a moral conviction.

Here is how I see it:
1>Go get an abortion if you want to. Be sure you pay for it. That is not government's business. If minor parental consent.
2>Don't redefine traditional marriage term. Leave it alone. SSM(civil union) is OK with me if there is no indoctrination(keep this out of my child's class) or glorification.
3>Abandon welfare. Don't "feel nice" with my money.

I agree with practically everything.

Also I want to see following 100%:
Life, Liberty and pursuit of happiness.
Freedom of speech.
Gun Rights.
Don't tweak the constitution.

Fred Thompson persuaded me that the best way to make progress on abortion and marriage (GIVEN THE SENATE DEMS) is federalism and that we should not insist on constitutional amendments that have no chance.

Plus, conservatives must, and I think all but a few do, be against judge made law for our preferred position when the constitution leaves matters to the states.

Jeff Sessions will be a great advocate and explainer of this in the hearings to come to replace Souter.

Life and Liberty are inalienable rights endowed by our Creator.

The individual is personally responsible for his/her contribution or burden to American society.

The US Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people.
