Is it cruel to point out that when Paul Krugman says that an alien invasion would save Keynesianism…
…he’s pretty much cribbing off of Reagan’s observation that an alien invasion would unite humanity and war among us?
Or is it just sad that Krugman comes across as profoundly intellectually stunted, in comparison? I mean, if we’re going to have an alien invasion serve a higher purpose then I’d personally prefer a more meaningful one than salvaging a somewhat dunderheaded liberal economic theory.

Finrod (Diary) Monday, August 15th at 1:06PM EST (link).. whether he’s being compared to Reagan or not. He just comes across as moreso when being compared to RR. Then again, so do most liberals.
Let’s get down to brass tacks here. How much for the ape?
First it was global warming and now aliens
dajeeps (Diary) Monday, August 15th at 2:27PM EST (link)What a stroke of brilliance! Maybe he’ll be the next messiah of the left. No?
Of course the aliens would have to be capable of disguising themselves as conservative activists and bloggers by day, turning into ruthless, bloodthirsty and horrifying monsters at night. That’s the only way it would work because otherwise the rest of the left would just assume they’re angry for not being accepted with open arms and not getting their share of the wealth. The govt would have to institute a new alien pacification tax to ensure they don’t come down and hurt us, and for funding activities for hunting down the stray extremest ones that refuse to be pacified and blend into the population, with heavy infestations reported in the US.
