NY Dem Donors Discover Elementary Self-Respect.

(H/T: Instapundit) A fascinating bit of trivia for people out there: if you’re a Democrat, and you go  keep telling a group of folks- in this case, Wall Street and other wealthy New York Democratic donors – that they’re unmitigated scum who need to be drained of every drop of their dirty money if they want to avoid being lynched by an angry Mob led by the White House and Congressional Democrats – hey, guess what happens!  They stop giving Democrats money!

No!  Really!  They do!

A perfect storm of events — the recession, Wall Street anger at Washington, donors who feel ignored by the White House and interest group dissatisfaction — has Democrats bracing for a brutal fundraising period and fearful of losing dominance in longtime donor stronghold and megarich New York.

While the exact quarterly figures won’t be known until after the July 15 filing deadline, a number of Democratic campaign insiders said the past few months were a mighty struggle to raise cash for candidates.

I know, I know: based on past history, it would be fair to think that there was nothing that the Democrats could do to harm this particular revenue source (which, by the way, explicitly includes Jewish Democratic donors).  Score one for hypocrisy, really – the Democrats never really ever meant all that rhetoric about Wall Street and the wealthy before.  They might not mean it now, either, but the guy running the Democratic party these days doesn’t actually know how to smooth the feathers he ruffled when he started yammering away about pitchforks and the mob.  In fact, it’s an open question whether the guy realizes that smoothing ruffled feathers is part of a sitting President’s job description when it comes to his own party infrastructure.

I think that Powerline put it best in their title: “Ideas have consequences and so do attitudes.” Indeed. So does arrogance, incompetence, and an uncritical willingness to believe one’s own propaganda.

PS: One piece of unsolicited advice for the Democratic party.  The second guy quoted in the passage below?

“They were coddled and worked very hard,” said one Democratic donor. “Now, they’re not just told they’re not needed but that they’re part of the problem.”

A Washington Democrat criticized that sentiment as “whining.”

“The New York donor community is all ego driven,” the Democrat said, adding that the complaints were largely coming from people who were complaining about “not getting invited to movie night at the White House.”

Yeah.  Find out who said that, and fire that guy.  He just cost you guys at least another House seat.

If you pay or paid taxes, vote for Republicans. If you consume taxes, vote for Democrats. same goes for donations.

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.

I thought people on Wall Street were supposed to be smart

smagar (Diary) Monday, July 5th at 6:25PM EST (link)

What did they think Obama was going to do, once he got elected?

Did they really think it would be good for business? Their business?

If all those Ivy League-educated Wall Street types actually came to the conclusion, after honest thought and efficient reasoning and problem analysis, that the nation’s economy would be better off under an Obama Administration, then the Ivy League must be graduating some pretty stupid people nowadays.

There must be something in the water on Ivy League campuses that kills off common sense.

these days, at least in the humanities and business; you pay the tuition and put in the seat time, you get the degree. You get your job from your network of classmates and associates, or your family name. You get your name on the door because of your Ivy League connections and grunts from state schools do the work that you get paid for. There’s no guarantee that any but the very highest ranking students, where there is ranking at all, learned much of anything. In modern schools, you can get a pretty good education but it will only be because you were self-motivated and chose to get the good education. If you choose to party, your diploma will look just like the guy’s diploma who was in class summa the time, and nobody much is going to care about your summa cum laude.

along with many independents and moderates, voted for Obama because they thought they would get a life-long “Get out of Racism, Free” card.
Anytime they needed to prove to someone that they weren’t racist or prejudicedt, they could just say, “I voted for Obama.”
Unfortunately for them, if they use that line now the response would probaly be, “You’re right, you’re not racist, you’re an ——-.”
-fill in your favorite 7 letter put-down.

Which is precisely why I think Obama's goose is probably cooked in 2012.

JX12 (Diary) Tuesday, July 6th at 3:37AM EST (link)

All it takes is ONE vote for Obama to be able to say you voted for the black candidate (thereby ostensibly insulating you from charges of racism for life). They already cast that vote in 2008, so there is probably a significant number of them who won’t see the need to do it again, regardless of how they may feel about his actual performance in office. This alone could go a long way toward sinking him in 2012.

…once he got elected?”

They thought he was going to keep the deal(s) he made with them. Back in the day, even Democrat politicians, once you bought them — they stayed bought.

I rather suspect many of the thought almost exactly that thought, with a slight addendum

The_Gadfly (Diary) Tuesday, July 6th at 1:23PM EST (link)

They thought it would be good for THEIR business, although not necessarily their competitors or the country. And they didn’t care if it was bad for the other guy as long as they got ahead. Business as taught in many places isn’t necessarily about making the most and the best product to fulfill a need in the market. It’s about how to finagle the highest economic (micro econ 101 technical def) profit from the market.

Smart and wise are two different things. Wise business leaders immediately see the problem. Unfortunately we have too few wise business leaders.

The points on racism are well taken too.

and Muslim nations. These two groups will take up the slack as the dems seem to desire a muslim nation or at least governing equality for them and hollywood always loves the leftist party, whoever that may be.

They also have one Mr. Gyorgy Soros.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Monday, July 5th at 6:41PM EST (link)

Look at it this way……

Since 1993, Mr. Soros has given over $37 Billion to a single ‘community organizing agency’ in Kyrgyzstan.

Yeah, really.

He has.

Kyrgyzstan – The nation with an annual GDP around $5 billion and a current ‘ethnic disturbance’ that forced it to bring in a brand new Constitution – that nobody in the nation (other than the new government) has seen to this day.

I referenced that stuff here at RS on my Kyrgyzstan diary – and the mess that’s STILL going on there.

But I digress…….

Imagine how much Mr. Soros and others like him would give to ‘community organizing agencies’ here in order to have a piece of America.

Follow the money… Obama is a puppet on George Soros’ string. When Billions talk, Obama walks. The rest of Wall Street can sit with the car window down waiting for the next prostitute.

Besides the Liberals on Wall Street got the two main things they wanted bailouts and hollow reform.

Soros is simply cashing on one crisis after another.

by Demoncrats since FDR, the corporate community is FINALLY getting “wise” to the leftists hating business and capitalism, even in its most antenuated over-taxed and highly regulated forms.

The problem has been Demowits like the Clintons could always reel them in with a sleepover in the Lincoln bedroom or a even as little as a “shoutout” at some $10,000 a plate fundraise so one CEO could brag to another, “Did you see Hillary point at ME?” when every goof at the fundraiser thought she was pointing at him/her. The price was so cheap.

Good. Let the Dems. eat cake.

Wouldnt count on that

Surprisingly accurate considering the source. You have to realize these people aren’t just arrogant and egotistical the live in another universe that only impinges on ours in certain times and places. In order for them to GET WISE , they would have to first admit on some level they were wrong. The chances of these people admitting they were wrong are well slim and none, its much more likely they would try to rectify reality so it looked like they were correct all along.

Rope to hang us with

Giving money to Democrats does not buy protection. It makes them more powerful and gives the the rope to hang us with. If business people do not wake up and smell the coffee the era of America as a land of opportunity, prosperity, innovation and wealth creation is over. Indeed we are already on the ropes.

I still keep up with the union plumbers and their politics. They are beginning to understand their six figure salaries and their Cadillac medical plans are at odds with Obama’s view of America. They are not in their typical D party lockstep this year.

…when a political party stands up to corporate special interests and lobbyists.

On the up side for the Democrats, they can claim that they are not the party who is “bought and paid for” by Wall Street, and the majority of Americans are still pretty sour on Wall Street right now.
