‘The Buck Stops… with me.”

I just noticed that the President kind of likes to use that phrase a bit.  I wonder if he realizes that it makes him look like a bit of a narcissist?  Particularly since he’s clearly using that phrase in all those occasions to argue that while bad things that happen under his watch are always his responsibility, they’re never his fault.  Even the Christmas bombing attack was declared by the President to be ultimately the fault of a pre-Obama watch list system.  It’s frankly a far cry from ‘The buck stops here,’ which is at heart an admission that policy decisions flow from the top, and failures in policy are in fact in some way the fault of the people who are ultimately responsible for them.  Then again, Barack Obama is also a far cry from being another Harry S Truman.

I look forward to the hate mail that will implicitly validate my argument.

A "bit" of a narcissist?

swami7774 (Diary) Saturday, June 12th at 3:39PM EST (link)

There’s very little this guy does that does NOT make him look like a narcissist.

Today, there is a name for the political doctrine that rejoices in scarcity of everything except government. The name is environmentalism.

No deep reason

He just loves hearing himself say…anything. Actual content is irrelevant, in his mind.

Obama a narcissist? Really?

txgeekgirl (Diary) Saturday, June 12th at 3:42PM EST (link)

Moe – He is a narcissist. Everything begins and ends with how it effects his life. Sadly, what people have never realized about leaders like Reagan and most of Bush 41/43 is that self made men realize very little begin and end with them. I did not agree with some of Bush 43′s policies but boy do I miss him. I am still hoping somewhere out there, conservatives uncover a Reagan – like leader for 2012.

A rough-cut version, certainly, but there’s no mistaking where he stands.

it on to Bush, or the minority congressional Republicans, or Calvin Coolidge, or the guy selling frankfurters outside the White House gate, or the hero who struggles with Michelle’s make up. Now there’s a guy who deserves a medal.

This reminds me of a bit David Frye, A Nixon

impersonator, did during Watergate.
Impersonating Nixon, Frye said: ” I, of course, accept responsibility… but not the blame. Let me explain the difference, those who are to blame lose their jobs, those who are responsible, do not.”

I can't recall, but wasn't Truman a one-term (elected) Prez? nt. nt.

Nope, he served 2 terms

Xasteius (Diary) Saturday, June 12th at 5:23PM EST (link)

Frankly, I think any attempt to compare the two (Truman and Obama) is insulting to Truman, who though a progressive, at least wasn’t bowing to Stalin.

Don’t leave the party, hijack it back!

The only poll that counts is the one at the ballot box.

I don’t want to be Reagan. I want to be a Chance/Soros hybrid.

Not two full terms.

Roosevelt/Truman elected ’44. FDR died in April 45 and Truman succeeded him. Truman re-elected in ’48. Didn’t run in ’52 and Eisenhower was elected.

If I had a dollar for every time He has said, “Look [pause for dramatic effect]. I’m the President of the United States,” I’d be close to writing a check big enough to pay off the national debt.

We get it. You’re awesome. You have an awesome job title.

Now, STOP CAMPAIGNING AND GET TO WORK, President of the United States.

Only 2-1/2 years until President Ryan takes the keys.

I, also, was going to comment on the number of times he says that. I really don’t believe there has been one speech or interview that he hasn’t said it. I wonder who he is trying to convince?

Go Ryan!

He keeps doing that reaffirmation mantra.

Like an addict or alcoholic speaks out loud the 12 steps or runs them through their head to reaffirm staying clean or sober.

Poor Barack struggles so valiantly with the "buck" concept, but in the end he fails miserably

RedBeard Saturday, June 12th at 8:47PM EST (link)

He fails because he doesn’t believe it. As the perfection of humanity, The One, The Lightworker, he can’t accept any blame for things gone wrong. Someone else simply must be guilty. No other answer is plausible in his mind.

I’m sure it puzzles Obama greatly, as he wonders why the people are not busily constructing golden idols in his image.

Standard-bearer for grouchy curmudgeonry since, oh, 1975 or so.

Incompetent and stupid

and egomaniacal. Bad combination.

Truman also meant he took the heat for the decision and made efforts to correct situations, not just some verbal manipulation.

Now that we know the Dutch and Dutch Shell offered ships, equipment, and expertise three days into the Gulf disaster that liitle o was “on top of” from Day One, we know not only incompetent and stupid but also willfully so.

I think o and minions thought the Gulf leak was a gateway to krap and trade, but were too stupid and inexperienced to realize how horrendous the situation was/is.
