I mean, I get the central message: “Fine. You want me to cut spending? I’ll cut spending! I’ll show you! I’LL SHOW YOU ALL!”
The Obama administration stunned New York’s delegation Thursday, dropping the bombshell news that it does not support funding the 9/11 health bill.
The state’s two senators and 14 House members met with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius just hours before President Obama implored in his speech to the nation for Congress to come together and deliver a government that delivers on its promises to the American people.
So the legislators were floored to learn the Democratic administration does not want to deliver for the tens of thousands of people who sacrificed after 9/11, and the untold numbers now getting sick.
…but I have to point out – like Dana Loesch – that not all programs are created equal, either. This is like something out of an 80s sitcom:
- Bringing Up Barry! (Tuesdays, 8 PM EST): When Barry gets in trouble at school for splurging the Chess Club’s entire budget on a pizza party, it’s up to John to talk to him about spending wisely. But Barry goes too far and hides with the school’s fuses to save money. Wacky hijinks ensue as Sarah tries to talk him out of the furnace room in time to save the Valentine’s Day dance!

This is a city that was given ONE BILLION DOLLARS for the purpose of funding the medical needs of first responders who knowingly continued working in a toxic wasteland that would make them sick. Mayor Bloomberg has been sitting on this money and refusing to use it, while paying hundreds of millions of dollars from the fund (World Trade Center Captive Insurance Fund) to lawyers to fight any and every claim filed by sick and dying cops and firemen. The lead attorney is one of the architects of the defense mounted against Vietnam vets in the Agent Orange lawsuit. The operational tactic is to keep delaying until everyone dies.
This is a city that has been attacked by ISLAMIC terrorists repeatedly. The 1973 multiple car bomb Al-Jawary plot. The 1990 Kahane assassination. The 1993 WTC bombing. The 1993 Landmarks Plot to blow up multiple facilities. The 1994 Brooklyn Bridge machine gun attack. The 1997 attempted bombing of the Atlantic Avenue subway complex. The 1997 Empire State building observation deck shootings. The 9/11 attack. The 2001 Anthrax attacks to multiple media outlets. The 2003 plot to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge. The 2003 subway cyanide gas plot. The 2004 plot to blow up the Herald Square subway complex. The 2006 plot to blow up the PATH subway tunnel to Manhattan. The 2009 Zazi plot to conduct multiple bombing attacks on the subway system.
Yet the loudest voices in this city are AGAINST any and all efforts to protect this city. The people of this city openly stand in defense of the very people trying to destroy it.
As far as any GOP hope…there is none. George Pataki, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg did NOTHING to grow and develop the party during a period of 12+ years of ostensibly Republican control of the two executive offices. They have left the Republican Party in New York State weaker than at any point in history. There are no candidates in the wings, just deadbeats and buffoons.
Obama could declare that NYC will be used a national storage site for nuclear material and he would be overwhelmingly get the vote in NYC. Widespread rational self interest does not exist in this deluded town.

The agenda here is pretty clear. Great reward for the state’s electoral votes, but I suppose that’s the Chicago way.
Giuliani and Pataki need to get off their butts and challenge Schumer for his two Senate seats now. Who cares if Rudy already said he wouldn’t run? This has gotten to the point of open war, and when you declare war on New York, New York declares war back.

They know they can do whatever they want to Bloomberg and he can’t do a thing about it. Obama enjoys taking the life out of NYC day after day, so I should have known not being able to strangle the last bit of life out of it with the trials would be considered “a political blow” to him personally.
