Report AGW federal funding fraud! Win valuable prizes!

Take it away, James Delingpole:

…I am so glad to report that Michael Mann – creator of the incredible Hockey Stick curve and one of the scientists most heavily implicated in the Climategate scandal – is about to get a very nasty shock. When he turns up to work on Monday, he’ll find that all 27 of his colleagues at the Earth System Science Center at Penn State University have received a rather tempting email inviting them to blow the whistle on anyone they know who may have been fraudulently misusing federal grant funds for climate research.

Under US law, regardless of whether or not a prosecution results, the whistleblower stands to make very large sums of money: it is based on a percentage of the total  government funds  which have been misused, in this case perhaps as much as $50 million.

Who here is saddened by this news? I am saddened by this news: why, it’s enough to make me break down and cry. No, really: there’s not a chance that I can get a piece of this. Curse my liberal arts degree…

Now that is a post like none other. Just the thought of this being updated by a “fly on the wall” gives me hope that I can believe in.

US Dept. of Energy made grant to ClimateGate unit

katesmith (Diary) Sunday, January 3rd at 3:43PM EST (link)

Came out in emails, US was among those making grants to Phil Jones unit. UK Telegraph, 12/5/09, by Robert Mendick, “Climategate professor Phil Jones awarded 13m pounds in research grants.” No need for special degree to weigh in on climate. The BBC describes Pachauri as the UN’s chief climate scientist, but the guy has no training on the subject. His advanced degrees are in economics and industrial engineering (he’s a locomotive expert).

Sounds like he has the perfect degree for this.

Dr. Mann

This guy, Dr Mann had a pretty snotty amateurish letter to the editor in the Wall Street Journal the other day. Wonder if Penn State is going to go after him. Be nice to see this crook loose it all.

No more CO2 in air than 150 years ago

renny (Diary) Sunday, January 3rd at 7:31PM EST (link)

From Science Daily (orig. in Geophysical Research), 12/31/09: No more CO2 in atmosphere than in 1850. Data re-analyzed at the U of Bristol finds no change in % of CO2 in air in century and 1/2 and no increase in recent decades.

As much as a year ago I am on record as calling it a scare hoax

kyle8 (Diary) Sunday, January 3rd at 8:21PM EST (link)

I am not a scientist, but what finally tipped me off was that the very same people who should be most concerned if we were indeed ruining the world should have been screaming for nuclear energy.

But they were the same people most likely to be against it. So that got me suspicious. Then i did some other digging on previous scientific scares like acid rain and the ozone hole.

Turned out that there were some people who made enormous profits on legislation passed to address those so called problems.

We are left now with the realization that we cannot trust scientists and that it was a planned hoax from the word go.

If I were a believer in AGW, I would be very worried

aelie (Diary) Sunday, January 3rd at 8:56PM EST (link)

Those scientists sure seem to be more interested in publicity than actually spending time investigating and coming up with better climate models. I am not a climatologist, so I can’t say I know much about global warming. But one doesn’t need to be a climatologist to see how much those AGW evangelists are into politics and public image over serious science. It’s sad how those researchers act no differently than rabid mindless drones that believe everything on the mainstream media.

The West's New High Priests - Scientists

sara123 Sunday, January 3rd at 11:47PM EST (link)

Having worked as a manager in medical research funding for years, it cracks me up that we let these shysters get away with shouting down everyone who questioned them and their solutions with the slogan “settled science.” It is unbeleivable that they got away with stacking their peer review with like minded political radicals!

Real researchers do not act like this. They do not fret over disagreement and they surely do not shout down those with conflicting research as they see it as progress in science. This new attitude of nasty, attacking scientist is new to the American research culture. Science is now political which means it is as good as the science of the former Soviet Union. We need to get the radical left out of a position of driving science and harming politically incorrect peers.
Science and politics do not mix!

Polar bears are dying from the cold here in Florida

Or some such anecdotal nonsense, with this morning’s freezing temperatures in central Florida clearly and conclusively proving, beyond any further debate, that man-made global cooling is taking place and MUST BE STOPPED.
