Rahm Emanuel is right not to worry.

I have to disagree with RS McCain on this one: Emanuel may not be telling the truth on the passage of health care rationing, but he’s correct in dismissing the netroots.

Turn off MSNBC. Tune out Howard Dean and Keith Olbermann. The White House has its liberal wing in hand on health care, says White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

[snip]

The comments may not endear the powerful White House chief of staff to liberal activists, furious that Senate Democratic leaders, at Emanuel’s urging, cut a deal with Sen. Joe Lieberman to drop a federally run insurance policy option, then eliminate a Medicare buy-in proposal.

I’ve been involved with the political blogosphere since 2002 or so, and the next time I see the left side of its leadership stand up to entrenched Democratic party interests over something important will be the first. Compare their usual wish list with what they get; and consider that examples of the discrepancy go all the way back to 2004, and John Kerry’s nomination. Put another way: if they swallowed heavily and accepted being betrayed on FISA/rendition/same-sex marriage, they’ll accept whatever monstrosity that the current ruling party comes up with with regard to health care rationing.

Not that I’m suggesting either way that health care rationing will pass or fail, mind you; merely that its passage or failure to pass is going to be independent of the netroot’s collective opinion on the matter.

That is why Obama has been stupid from the beginning. Worrying about the left base is stupid, because they are lemmings. Where are they going to go? They have a single track to follow, and that is the Democratic Party.

I think the real question is whether there will be a revolt from the base of the Democrats, not just the left, as they realize that this bill does not reduce costs, doesn’t improve quality of care, and will blow a hole in the deficit. Not to mention…every day that goes by is a day closer to the 2010 elections. And that does not bode well for Democrats.

Democrat rank and file are going to completely

close their wallets. Unlike some of the recent betrayals, i.e., “FISA/rendition/same-sex marriage,” this bill is going to cost people actual cash money. Union members will have excise taxes, Medicare will be cut $500 billion etc., etc., etc.

I’m looking at the leftist reaction as a glass half-full. It will become more full as we get closer each day to the 2010 doom. If the leaders of the nutroots decline to rebel, well, the show will just get even better.

and right now, the administration doesn’t care what how progressives think feel about the steady string of broken promises. Just shut up and fall in line.

If or when the horror is passed

leftists will quiet down. The controls, taxes, inefficiencies, care reductions, and overall pain, will, contrary to sanity, placate them.
There are a sea of examples to draw on but power, enjoyed vicariously and misery employed generously, are what these vipers live for.
As government is the chief benefactor to their sadistic wet dreams, they will adjust and regroup for more extended horrors. It doesn’t matter so much if they are affected as long as others suffer under the yoke of federal control and their idol Government proceeds in it’s oppressive path.
When has it been otherwise, and this is the big one.

We had a chance to avoid another great depression

anotherindyfilmguy (Diary) Saturday, December 19th at 11:34AM EST (link)

this bill is going to to blow that chance and the Dems will own it.

Thanks Lefties for being blind to reality.

Thanks Congress for being just corrupt enough to have the key votes bought and paid for at the last minute.

Congresscritters won’t fully understand the depth of what they have done until their constituents turn on them. many of them just don’t care. Everyone who votes for this potentially final straw of bankrupting needs to go by whatever means possible.

….may be a little premature, but we always knew it was going to happen. We called that last year. These useful idiots have played the only card Obama needed from them, it seems.

It also suggests that the Obamailis really won’t need that voting bloc in either 2010 or 2012.

We should all repair to our drawing boards and recalculate based on that observation.

Megalomania

Obama’s true goal is to be “remembered” in the history book. He really doesn’t care about what anybody else thinks – he just wants to make sure that everyone in the future knows how great he was. His true goal is to have his portraits hang from every wall in the nation (just like Chairman Mao and the Great Leader) ten, twenty years from now. Remember how quickly Lenin liquidated his own supporters once he eliminated the opposition? It’s the same here in the U.S. today. Emanuel has garnered enough power to push ahead with his master’s goals. Now Democratic drones are adversaries that must be dispersed.

There is no such thing as a moderate dimocrat. There is no such thing as a conserative dimocrat. All 60 of the bozo dimocrats are LIBERALS. They might represent conservative or swing States but they are LIBERALS.

Evan Bayh, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Jim Webb, Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Kent Conrad, Max Bacchus, Tim Johnson, all of them and more are died in the wool LIBERALS. Anyone who calls one of these bozos a moderate or a liberal is too naive or politically illiterate to be allowed on the streets at night.

New Gingrich was correct in 1991. If it is dimocrat it is LIBERAL. That is why he attacked every dimocrat every day. They did not sell out. They were not bribed. These were just political covers for them to go back and assuage their constituents.

Look at the polls the people in LA hate the health care legislation but they love Mary for getting them that money. It was not the legislators that are being bought it is the votes in their respective States. They are up for sale.
