Just wanted to chime in with info on TX-17, one of the most Republican districts in the country that is represented by a Democrat. Chet Edwards barely hung on last year against an underfunded opponent, when the state and national party were telling people to stay out of this race. Hard to run against the Dems and your own party. But Rob Curnock ran, and came within a few points of pulling it off. We're going to finish the job in 2010 ... www.robcurnockforcongress.com.

My friend Leo is a conservative educator & blogger. Last weekend, Leo attended an EdMinn workshop (EdMinn is Minnesotan for teachers union) in the Twin Cities. Rep. Walz was their keynote speaker. Fortunately for us, Leo's post,/b> exposes things about Rep. Walz that I'm certain Rep. Walz doesn't want published. Please feel fre to publish Rep. Walz's remarks far & wide.

I know Debicella and Russo personally. Both would be excellent representatives. Dan was at my swearing in ceremony today (Board of Ed) and he's a born campaigner. Rob has won in Bridgeport in the past, and has a good command of the issues.

Torres - Bridgeport Republicans had high hopes for him. He ran for mayor a few years back and did pretty well. When he endorsed a Democrat last time around, they removed him as chair of RTC.

CT -04 is a district we can win. Stuart McKinney (R) held the seat from '69 to '87 and Chris Shays held the seat for 11 terms...losing last year to Himes only because of huge Obama turnout in Bridgeport (he lost 80-20% there). We had hoped that either Shays or McKinney's son, John (State Sen. Fairfield) would run, but no dice.
Again though, I think Debicella is probably the front runner, with Russo a close second, and both would be great.

I think every one of these Democrat incumbents are incredibly vulnerable, but the names being thrown around to challenge them seem incredibly weak to me.

Voters won't throw the Democrat out if the Republican challenger is a wrestling coach who happens to be conservative. Even if they're mad at the Democrat Party, independent voters value competence and experience.

I understand that sometimes an outsider has appeal, but they rarely win. Someone running for Congress should really have some elected experience before throwing their hat in the ring.

2010 is going to be a blowout for Republicans, I just hope solid challengers step up to the plate.

From the MinnPost article:
"And, of course, the DFL already has jumped on the Quist candidacy, saying he would offer the same "ineffectiveness" for the 1st District that Bachmann offers people in the 6th. "

I think the people of MN1 would heartily welcome the same level of "ineffectiveness" that Michele Bachmann provides in MN6! The "effectiveness" of Walz and his ilk are driving us all to the poor house!

State Senator Brad Zaun (R) is also running against Boswell.

MN Waltz (D) State Senator Julie Rosen (R) is also expected to get into the race and possibly LT Gov Molnau
