Reverse the Vote!

Reverse the Vote! is a program set up to specifically target 24 Democrats who voted for health care rationing, and against their constituents’ desires, last week.  The list is entertaining:

Arcuri NY 24
Bean IL 8
Berry AR 1
Bishop NY 1
Carnahan MO 3
Connolly VA 11
Dahlkemper PA 3
Donnelly IN 2
Driehaus OH 1
Ellsworth IN 8
Foster IL 14
Giffords AZ 8
Kilroy OH 15
Kanjorski PA 11
Hall NY 19
Hill IN 9
Owens NY 23
Salazar CO 3
Schrader OR 5
Shea-Porter NH 1
Snyder AR 2
Space OH 18
Titus NV 3
Kagen WI 8

…it’s not even close to a comprehensive list of vulnerable Democrats in the House next year, but it’s good for a start. Please note that all donations go to the Victory Committees of the individual districts, which means that they will all go towards the eventual winners of the GOP primaries next year.  In other words, contributing to this fund does not give money to the NRCC for it to spend, and this money cannot be used to promote one candidate or another in the GOP primary.  To put it more simply: this is strictly throw-the-Democratic-bums-out money.  That’s why I contributed, and frankly?  So should you.

Arcuri's our man

shellydog2 (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 3:31PM EST (link)

Arcuri promised to sign up for Obama care if it passes. I was at the town hall where he promised. Organizing for America held a Thank You rally for him at a Seniors center. It was sad thinking those were the folks that would suffer the most from this. He stood up there and smirked and smiled and told everyone how great this was going to be. Utica’s 9/12 group and Fort Stanwix Tea Party Patriots, rallied outside, About thirty of us. Driving out he looked neither left or right. Coward.

If the GOP can recruit, they're gone

crosley (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 3:47PM EST (link)

That is the deciding factor with these clowns, will someone worthwhile step up and run against them. I’m hoping good recruits will see that 2010 will be like 1994, and decide to run en masse.

But we can’t expect just anyone with an (R) next to their name will beat them.

Moe, I respectfully demand

that you add Representative Mark Schauer (D) MI 7, to your wall of shame. Below is the email he sent out to his constituants after having NOT ONE face to face town hall. He only did telephone town halls and selective meetings with union members in his district. The second paragraph sent me over the edge.

As I’m sure you know by now, the U.S. House of Representatives recently approved sweeping health care reform legislation, sponsored by Rep. John Dingell of Michigan.

After reading the bill from cover to cover and talking to thousands of families, small business owners, nurses, doctors and seniors, it became clear to me that our current health care system is broken. Health costs for small businesses have skyrocketed 129% since 2000, and if we don’t act now, health care costs for average Michigan families will continue to increase by $1,800 each year for the next ten years. Seniors will continue to fall into the Medicare Part D donut hole, and rising health care costs will continue to add to the federal deficit. This situation is unsustainable, and unacceptable.

That’s why I was proud to vote for the Affordable Health Care for America Act, H.R. 3962, because it will offer every American access to quality, affordable health insurance. As a result, 36,000 people that I serve will finally be able to afford quality health care coverage.

. For families, it will help lower health care expenses and offer peace of mind by preventing big health insurance companies from denying coverage due to a “pre-existing condition” or the loss of a job.

. For seniors, it will offer greater security by closing the prescription drug donut hole, eliminating co-payments for preventive services, and extending the life of the Medicare Trust Fund.

. For small businesses – like the one my wife and I own – it offers tax credits and access to affordable group rates through a health insurance exchange, which will lower costs and allow entrepreneurs to re-invest in their business.

. Additionally, the bill and accompanying measures will reduce the federal deficit by $109 billion over the next ten years. Don’t take my word for it; that’s according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Groups representing Americans from all walks of life have lent their support to this critical legislation, such as AARP, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, Consumers Union (publisher of “Consumer Reports” magazine), the American Medical Association, the American Nurses Association, the American Cancer Society, and the National Farmers’ Union.

I realize you may still have questions and concerns about this important effort. That’s why I’ve included the attached information about what’s in the bill for Michigan families, seniors and businesses. You can also read a copy of the bill and find additional information by visiting my website at www.schauer.house.gov and clicking on the Health Care Reform link on the main page.

In particular, I’d like to address some of the most-repeated misinformation about the bill:

. H.R. 3962 does not provide Federal funds for health care for illegal immigrants – Individuals who are not here lawfully will not be eligible for health care subsidies.

. H.R. 3962 does not use any Federal dollars to cover abortion services. The Hyde Amendment, passed in September of 1976, prohibits Federal funding from covering abortion services, except in cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother. This same law is in place today, and applies to H.R. 3962. Further, the Stupak amendment prohibits the public option, or any plan subsidized with affordability credits from covering abortion services.

. H.R. 3962 does contain tort reform. In a voluntary state program, medical malpractice cases would have to contain a certificate of merit to ensure a case is valid, a provision that Michigan has had for more than a decade.

. H.R. 3962 does not exempt members of Congress; in fact, part of the bill is modeled after the Congressional health plan. As a member of Congress, I already purchase health care from a Health Insurance Exchange. This program has proven to be effective and the bill would give you the opportunity to participate in a similar program that provides market competition and consumer choice, as well as affordable and quality care to consumers.

While the recent House vote marks an historic step towards fixing our broken health care system, this is by no means the end of the road. I expect a different version of the bill will emerge from the U.S. Senate, at which point I will carefully read and study the final legislation before voting again later this year.

In the meantime, please read the attached information about H.R. 3962, The Affordable Health Care for America Act, and keep sending me your questions, comments and feedback about health care reform. I am committed to listening to you and working with you to fix America’s broken health care system and turn Michigan’s economy around.

Sincerely,

Mark Schauer
Member of Congress

Schrader OR-5

JoeG Wednesday, November 18th at 4:08PM EST (link)

I haven’t heard much buzz, but Schrader is very vulnerable. The Republicans ran a total disaster against him last time and lost big. (Hint, don’t pay for your mistress’s abortions.)

So far I like the nominee names being floated.

just contributed!

earlgrey (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 4:18PM EST (link)

I will continue to contribute to these as I find the funds available. Please Red Staters keep us updated on these initiatives so that we are reminded to keep up the contributions. It is hard to commit in advance, but as each month comes around we can throw more money at this.

I have never given before to anything (unitl this year). If there are a bunch more of us who have never given that give what we can so the Dems can’t take it from us later, than we can make a real difference.

Moe, Don't Forget Dems Who Voted "No"

Spartan4Life (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 4:32PM EST (link)

Thoeretically, they are even more vulnerable.

State Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-2)

Mayhem (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 5:05PM EST (link)

She’s running against Joe Donnelly, and she has a real shot at taking him down. I was shocked (honestly) that he voted for it. His district is a blue collar, working class district, and it is really hurting economically right now. The bill is not popular here and already ads are running against him for his health care vote.

Jackie is a real, passionate conservative. I wrote a diary entry on her a few weeks back, if you want to learn more about her:

James Madison, Jim DeMint, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan… You get the picture.

No RINO's, DIABLO's or McCain's

neyney Wednesday, November 18th at 5:14PM EST (link)

I’ll do my part to help the RNC if the RNC will do it’s part. No more will I contribute to an organization that doesn’t have the cojones to fight back! The Dems have been handing gifts to the RNC for months in the way of horrible policy and what do we hear from the RNC? Crickets, crickets.

Get it RNC, we want rock-ribbed fiscal conservatives, we do NOT want more so-called moderate RINO’s like Snowe, Collins, et al. If you put up more Dem Lite candidates look for us to stay home come election day, look for the Indy’s and Libertarians to do likewise. I’ve talked to folks and all feel the same way in my part of the world. Stop listening to the media/Dems (but I repeat myself) telling us how to run our party. It is NONE of their business giving us advice, they are the ENEMY and I mean ENEMY. Look at what they’re doing to our contry. Get a clue RNC or face extinction.

ktsub (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 8:17PM EST (link)

Get involved in the local/state Republican Party and make the changes you want. The RNC is only as strong and conservative as you make it. Every elected official is nominated by its local/state party, not a declaration by the RNC.

Become a Precinct Chair, find your favorite candidate and volunteer, donate money.

I think Tom Perriello(Va-5)

restofva (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 5:48PM EST (link)

would make this list also. His should be a very short stay indeed.

Solid list

Moe : You Forgot to add someone

DavidS1787 (Diary) Wednesday, November 18th at 11:26PM EST (link)

Deborah Halvorson (D-IL) 11th Cong. District

I know Reverse the Vote didn't list Halvorson but ..

DavidS1787 (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 12:46AM EST (link)

I believe we could get this seat back!

Hall in NY-19 is very vulnerable

Marcus_Traianus (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 11:36AM EST (link)

I know the NY-19 district well, which was basically a carve out to give Dem’s that seat. But there are a bunch of independents and others who vehemently do not agree with the agenda he has voted for time and again.

We can find plenty of very solid challengers who will garner sufficient votes to take back that seat. All we need is the National GOP, et al to push the apathetic NY Republican Party in the right direction so the mistakes of NY-23 are not repeated.

Oh, and a note to the NRCC- please don’t get involved again- you blew it last time.

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson
