I truly believe that, in the “Big ‘D’ Machine” cities, going back to forever, the R’s really are just window dressing, a social club allowed to exist for the convenience of propping up the electoral process in a two party system. Sort of like the state of New Jersey.

It’s so bad in Philly that I was asked, personally, by a Philly GOP organization employee at a Christmas party if I would ever want to run for a state office as a republican. Not be elected, mind you, just “run.” My qualification? I was the only republican she had ever met outside of work. Her bosses told her to be on the lookout for any self identifying republicans who walked upright and had no criminal record.

Is Somebody About to Make Doug Hoffman’s Day?

Don’t take this to the bank, at least not yet. But somebody who seems to be in a position to know what’s coming down the pike in New York’s special election tells me that he’s hearing Sarah Palin will publicly endorse Conservative Doug Hoffman over Republican Dede Scozzafava.

If a candidate holds a press conference outside of their opponent’s HQ, they had be darn sure that they have 50 times the volunteers to hold signs and support.

At least that’s the clear impression you get if you read the comments at the WaPo link above. As usual, the lefties are arguing purely on substance and issues, just as in New Jersey where their motto is “Choose Corzine ’cause Christie’s chubby”.

WaPo reports that Dede is fading fast and has almost no money, while Hoffman actually has a chance to win.

If there is a runoff it sure sounds like it would be between Owens and Hoffman, but if it’s a one-shot deal then it’s much tougher for Hoffman to win unless more R voters see Dede as the spoiler and vote for Hoffman instead. I’m guessing this is a one-shot deal, so someone could with with 34% of the vote if the other two are split evenly.

Gingrich is different-he will do anything to get his face in the media and contribute to the death of the republican party. Many paint his actions as ideological which diverts attention from bigger problems. It would be nice if it were just about ideology but it’s about first getting someone who won’t rob us and laugh in our face. With media at his disposal 24/7 for years, he could have stopped the ascendancy of Goldman Sachs, Soros, the sub prime meltdown, cap and trade and much more. Anyone with his connections knew all this was going on. But he writes a book on global warming and is determined to keep the republican party out of the hands of the people. He is a buffoon. I wish Rush would come out against him. I gave $50 to Hoffman.

From what I have read here, if this chick wasn’t in the race Hoffman would win in a walk, but because she is in this thing, the Dem might win. I do agree with about everyone here, that this one should be the hill to die on, one it may be nice to have another R to add one more R to the congress count, but if she is unreliable I would rather have the D win and hang every screw up around his neck in 2010.
