Next year will be the Pearce/Teague matchup that could have been, and Teague will be packing his bags. I had occasion to stop overnight in Lordsburg a few months ago. Very run-down, quiet, and depressed-looking. It startled and saddened me (especially as a fan of the original "Stagecoach") to see how blighted much of that corner of New Mexico appeared (I traveled through Deming the next morning, where things looked about as bad). By a roadside in Lordsburg a ragged billboard stood; a leftover from the election, it had been affixed with crude, handmade lettering exhorting passersby to "VOTE DEMOCRATIC". Figured.
