There’s always something entertaining about watching a criminal get his [redacted] handed to him by a guy three times his age. Particularly when it involves multiple camera angles.

Open thread.

PS: I understand, by the way, that the aforementioned criminal’s name is something like ‘Sinister Smith.’ I don’t believe in acrophonology, Qabalah, or gematria generally – but I do believe in Just Asking For It, and whoever gave this poor schmuck that name was Just Asking For It.

So don’t do that, OK?

I wonder what he said to her that made her want to kick him!

In local news coverage last night,

she said she apologized to the robber for kicking him.

Her husband got involved because she was in line for the tellers, and he could see the panic on the faces of the tellers as the robber moved from station to station getting their money. He acted to protect his wife.

That is soooooooooooooo how people think and not just politicans! I never understood it in high school that so many of the bad kids got so much sympathy and special this and that. I remember in some kind of contest I reported that ___ (other kid) broke the rule and the response the adult said was did I know what neighborhood he was from? I responded with yes that I lived three blocks from him. This wasn’t with Mr or Mrs liberal either..this type of thinking is very common with middle class conservatives. I didn’t understand it at the time it was pointless to try and respond to it.
I saw soooo much money and resources going into these kids that were thugs. I didn’t even realize how much “system” resources they sucked up too as far as judges, police, free lawyers, juv court clerks, etc.
The crazy thing is the people who think like that if something small!!!! happens to them or one of their kids they are ready to draw blood and it’s not even as serious for the things that happened to others that they would criticize in the past the people for being upset about or wanting justice for..so dumb they have NO common sense even or even real consideration of someone’s situation.

Gerson’s article is serious and interesting. I was struck by the “public docile with hatred” and “keep the public docile with hatred.”
The biggest difference I see between that era and this: the American people have a different nature and character. Our history is different, and technology is not new to us. While we may not be docile, and we shouldn’t be, it is not filled with hatred toward another group of citizens. Our wrath is directed toward a government intent on Socialism and Tyranny. I’ve linked the article, sorry about the full URL. Right now, I don’t seem to have the “link” in my FF toolbar. Anyone know how to get it there?

I am surrounded by good and decent people who want to problem solve; and do not want to look at others in the way the leftist Dems are trying to label and portray us. The "serious and interesting" advocacy of suppressing speech

Achance (Diary) Friday, September 25th at 11:15AM EST (link)

is far more dangerous than heavy handed gag orders and intimidation. Everyone recognizes and almost everyone is taken aback by the heavyhandedness. Who can disagree with Gerson’s plea for more civility? Interestingly, he never mentions the most virulent hate sites, the jihadi sites that are used to organize real terrorism. And we know who he really wants to silence; US, and conservative talk radio.

As I pointed out in the diary I did a few months ago on Nazi “coordination” in the Wiemar Era, Germany was a ripe plum for the communists or would remain a very liberal constitutional republic until the Nazis and big business came together. Business faced outright confiscation by the communists, confiscation through regulation and taxation by the liberals, or the ability to maintain ownership if they “coordinated” their activities with those of the Nazis. Sounds a lot like what Comrade Obama has done with GE, with the automakers, the banks, the pharma industry. See a pattern developing?

In Vino Veritas

Art, I see that Gershon had two themes going in his column.

penguin2 (Diary) Friday, September 25th at 11:44AM EST (link)

The first part is the one that I saw as speaking to an analogy perhaps of Obama and the rise of their “messianic figure-Hitler.” I saw those remarks as supportive of our side. The second part of his column goes off on a criticism of uncensored speech on the Internet. You’re right, he doesn’t mention the “virulent words and hate of the jihadi sites.” Any honest criticism of free speech has to include radicals from all spheres. OTOH, he was writing this for publishing in the Washington Post, and he had to politically correct.

For all of our very talented photo doctors, you're needed

Scope (Diary) Friday, September 25th at 10:40AM EST (link)

This morning I was reading an article over at American Thinker entitled, “Preaching fingers.”

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/09/preaching_fingers.html

Was it Mondale who made finger pointing by politicians unclassy, bad manners or lacking in decorum? It seems that when you see politicians making hand gestures, they all put a bend in their index finger. I believe I remember Obama, on the campaign trail, bending his pointer when making a point. Not so any more, now that he has gained world class worship, and has decided that the word Decorum isn’t in his dictionary. Maybe if he just pointed his pointer upward, he could do away with some of his “I’s” so frequently used in his preaching.

The last line in this article that goes something like “I wanted to point back at Obama in his UN speech, but, it would have been with the finger usually reserved for the Trial Lawyer commercials.” Amen Gary Horne.

Any one of our photo doctors up to the task?

I mean, he could seriously have hurt that 23 year old disadvantaged youth who was just trying to make, or take, a buck, or a lot of bucks. Or quids. whatever. But I was certain that the Brits considered it bad form (or the far lesser charge of “illegal”) for a non-police officer to do anything like enforcing the law or protecting others.

I’m expecting to hear charges filed against the man who launched the cowardly attack from the rear and could have caused his victim to bruise a knee, or perhaps even tear his pants.

(And for those who may wonder, since sarcasm wasn’t picked up before, yes, this was sarcasm. I hope. I would hate to see it come true, but wouldn’t put it past the Brits who have been depressingly French-like when it comes to domestic terrorism and defense)

“We sleep soundly in our beds only because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those who would do us harm Dear Leader Obama gives us leave to do so.”

after he went after a robber because it violated places policy for a robbery. I understand they have a policy to protect the people and customers but still to have him lose his livelihood that is crazy.
That sure did brighten my morning to watch! I feel ready to conquer the world now. :)
Crowe I always wondered about that when I read about a robbery or something and the would be victim had a gun and used it they close it with __(law enforcement) will not be filing charges against___ (would be victim). Why do they even consider to file charges against someone that defended themself against a criminal!

mom2, you can defend yourself but not necessarily

Achance (Diary) Friday, September 25th at 12:21PM EST (link)

act to defend others, depends on the state. Only in states with “castle” laws, few, can you use deadly force to defend property, and then only if it is your own property. If he’d shot that guy, he’d be facing charges in lots of places in the US, not necessarily convicted, but charged with some level of assault or even murder if he killed him.
