Marco Rubio scores 1.5 endorsements.

The full endorsement for Marco Rubio is from Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (R, FL-05):

Brown-Waite, who has been critical of what she has said is Crist’s attempts “to be all things to all people,” said Monday she thinks the GOP tide is turning in favor of Rubio.

“He is picking up a lot of steam with the recent victories from the straw polls. It is great to see momentum building for him,” she said.

Rep. Brown-Waite joins Rep Jeff Miller (R, FL-01) in endorsing Rubio over Crist.

Meanwhile, the half endorsement is from former Governor Jeb Bush (otherwise known as the popular Bush):

Jeb Bush whacks NRSC for endorsing Crist

Jeb Bush raised some eyebrows yesterday when he joined the conservative attack against the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for endorsing Gov. Charlie Crist over conservative favorite Marco Rubio for Senate in Florida.

“I think [Rubio] should be given a chance,” Bush told the Lakewood ranch Republican Club. “I think that the idea that the national party would pick a winner a year and a half before an election is the wrong way to go.”

There is a certain frustration out there that when it comes to the Florida primaries some in power have apparently decided to anticipate the primary, as it were. In the abstract, I can understand the impulse, and even approve of it. In this specific case, this is threatening to push out of consideration a great candidate and a RedState favorite – and I’ve noticed that the question that I asked here has never actually been answered. So let me ask it again:

What does Charlie Crist have that can beat that?

The endorsement

I’m glad there’s been some additional coverage of GBW’s endorsement since I wrote about it last week: http://www.redstate.com/matthewinflorida05/2009/09/17/rep-ginny-brown-waite-fl-05-endorses-marco-rubio-for-us-senate/

We’re less than a year away from Florida’s primaries and that’s when we’ll get answers to our questions. Ther’s no doubting that Gov. Crist has very serious problems with the conservative base here in Florida.

The biggest question that needs to be answered is this, “Are county Republican Executive Committee out of touch with the overall Republican electorate or are they the ones that pay more attention to the details of the early race and the electorate will folllow next year?”

According to Jim Greer (take that for what it’s worth) a recent internal poll says that Gov. Crist has a 67% job approval rating from likely Republican voters.

Rubio's Message is just starting to blossom.

As you probably know, in the poll where respondents knew BOTH candidates Rubio was virtually tied with Crist statistically. I believe it was Rubio 31% and Crist 33%.

As Rubio continues to deliver his conservative message and recieves further endorsements from true conservatives, I believe that the poll numbers will continue to rise and he will win

The primary is in August. What Rubio needs is support in the way of donations.

Ginny sometimes disappoints, but not here

RedBeard Wednesday, September 23rd at 9:57AM EST (link)

She is my congresswoman/lady/person, and I usually find that she is on the right side of the issues. Once in a while she slips, as when she voted for the Dem budget and supported tossing more cash down the Cash-for-Clunkers sewer, but generally she is right.

After blasting her for the budget vote, I need to write and thank her for this action in support of future Senator Rubio.

Standard-bearer for grouchy curmudgeonry since, oh, 1975 or so.

Marco Rubio will be on Hotair.com interview today

Speaker Rubio’s upcoming schedule remains the same with one notable addition for this afternoon.

Today at 3:30 p.m. EDT, Speaker Rubio will be a guest on HotAir.com’s “The Ed Morrissey Show.”

The NRSC is going to pay a steep price for supporting Crist

defendglenn (Diary) Wednesday, September 23rd at 11:18AM EST (link)

Crist is the antithesis of everything conservative. Insult the base in 2009 and you will regret it.
