Look, I think that George W. Bush’s current unpopularity among the American people is a bit unfair, but I recognize that it exists – so trying to excuse the current President’s habit of doing end-runs around the nomination process because he’s just like Bush* is, well, dumb. The majority of the populace will react badly to the comparison and the percentage that won’t react badly will also not take it particularly seriously.
Michael Silence (via Instapundit) wants to know what the point was for this campaign ad. I refer him to Andrew Klavan for the answer.

This is 2009 and it just so happens that Obama has dozens of czars working outside the Constitutional process instituting polices that can’t be reached by traditional oversight. What’s more, many of these czars emerge from backgrounds deeply troubling to conservatives and, quite frankly, to Americans generally, if they were aware.

Look at how the Obama administration pressed all the auto company creditors who were legally entitled to much more than they received. Where did his auto czar get his authority…?

Anyway- as Dobbs points out, this ad is misleading (surprise surprise) because in eight years, the Bush Administration only had ten (10) positions that would be construed as “czar” positions- yet 47 different individuals held those ten positions- IN EIGHT YEARS.
So, once again, the DNC- masters of prestidigitation- have done it again with a misleading ad that’s not worth it’s wait in salt.

That way, you can go around THINKING it is a good idea, all the while looking like a total fool.
Maybe it is the right’s last operation on you before you leave so we have some kind of marker on you, like a radio collar on a deer or wolf. That way we can keep an eye on you at all times. I can imagine a group of people together talking about this and about three or four going, “Oh this is sooo true, what a smart commercial!”
At which time the rest of us can point and say, “Iiberal, liberal, liberal. Okay, now we know who they are.”

Thanks to Van Jones’s resignation, Obama will have to appoint another Czar, and the number of Czar’s will grow. Right? Isn’t that how it works? The Emperor has no clothes and the DNC has no shame.
