An Education Department that can’t spell.

You’d think that the slapdash sorts in this particular administration would check to make sure that they spelled quite simple words properly in their media advisories:

Then again, you’d also expect them to check to see whether a major Presidential address to schoolchildren was actually taking place after the start of everybody’s school year*.

*Alternatively, we can all stop pretending that the White House was not planning to use this speech to push the Democrats’ health care rationing bill.

Do you remember when we were all told that

Steph C (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 10:32AM EST (link)

Democrats were ever so much more intelligent than us cretinous conservatives?

I remember hearing that a lot during the presidential campaign.

“[I]f the public are bound to yield obedience to laws to which they cannot give their approbation, they are slaves to those who make such laws and enforce them.” –Candidus in the Boston Gazette, 1772

I think it comes down to two things really.

The_Gadfly (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 10:44AM EST (link)

1. Despite rumors to the contrary, conservatives are not technology averse. We like nuclear power plants, automobiles and computers.
2. We know we aren’t perfect, have made mistakes in the past, and will make them again in the future. So we aren’t afraid to turn the spelling and grammar checkers on when we write things.

Oh, no, Gadfly

Didn’t you know we must be perfect? The opposition said so. Of course they exempted themselves from that rule.

Insisting on a particular spelling is sooo intolerant, Moe.

Achance (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 10:32AM EST (link)

If that spelling is right for them, then it is right. Actually, we should do away with the whole notion of “right” because it means implicitly that of one does or thinks something else, then that person is wrong, and wrong is just soooo judgemental.

In Vino Veritas

After all, plenty of people pronounce it that way. nt

know how to spell schoolchildren. I think the point is that these people are type too fast for there brains to catch up. The really need to slow down because it’s showing what twerps they are.

Joe Biden is like a Decrepit Park owner with a Meth lab that happens to not only be a dealer but a user.

Let’s Bankrupt the Democratic paty. Make spend all the money to defend thier candidates.

I have the reverse problem.

Steph C (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 10:51AM EST (link)

I can’t type fast enough and often leave whole words and phrases out… and still sometimes I have typos.

Well at least we use the spellcheckers

Richard Mullins (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 11:16AM EST (link)

unlike these twerps. Carelessness is the name of the game for them(they don’t care what their doing). When the president is signing misspelled documents, you know that something is really wrong here.

No, it means they're careless...

And unprofessional. Speed on a keyboard doesn’t mean you can’t go back and check your work. And for a release like this, you would think that they would have several other people review it as well.

You hit it on the head!

They are rank amateurs, and it shows in nearly all they do. They have no pride in their work. They were not taught how to think ahead and plan ahead. They are the products of today’s wonderful public education…

Well we would prefer accuracy over speed

Richard Mullins (Diary) Thursday, September 3rd at 11:19AM EST (link)

but it seems that speed comes first and rechecking things is admitting that they are wrong. For them, they think that their never wrong and post up with typos.

This really isn't a surprise.

For the past 25 years (perhaps longer) many schools stopped grading spelling mistakes in papers. The thought was, the idea was more important than proper spelling and grammar, and those would come along eventually. To mark a paper down for those mistakes would only discourage the students.
