And the lecture was a lecture, too. Dull as dishwater – which is the problem. So to hell with it:
Are you under 25? Then don’t vote for Democrats who want to raise your minimum wage. The karmic backlash will cause you or a friend to lose your job.
It’s magic, OK? It’s an evil economic spell cast upon the young by bitter Democrats who hate you because you have no wrinkles, active sex lives, and the ability to stay up all night and not be a brain-dead zombie the next day. And that evil spell is bloody well working: the unemployment rate has been going up for under-25 year olds since the Democrats took power in 2007, which is the same time that the Democrats raised the minimum wage.
And I don’t care if a ‘Libertarian Democrat’ told you otherwise. There isn’t any such thing, anyway: they just say that they are, because it allows them to get close enough to you to eat your brain.
I’ll probably get chided for writing all that out, but it’d still be preferable to trying to write a yet third version of the reason why higher minimum wages hurt employment that doesn’t bore me.

Minimum-wage increases are made of FAIL

Actually, minimum wage and the FLSA worked

Its purpose in the New Deal was to set a wage and hour floor in The South to try to stop the death spiral of race based wage competition that made Southern industrial work a worse form of peonage than even share cropping and tenant farming. A combination of FLSA and War Labor Board policies and practices at least broke the death spiral though The South still is far behind much of the Nation economically because of its unique demographics.

Minimum wage laws are ridiculous
aesthete (Diary) Friday, August 28th at 2:57PM EST (link)The argument I’ve heard for it is basically that somewhere, there is a magical pot of gold that all corporations have access to which they refuse to share with their employees because they’re heartless a**es, and that minimum wage will force them to give up some of the money in that magical pot of gold to make up for the wage increase.
In reality, minimum wage is either, at best case, unnecessary and adds to our list of useless regulations, or is harmful, and should be tabled.

We need a repeal of the most recent increase

So with the healthcare monopolization efforts being unresolved and the most recent increase in minimum wages, there’s no reason to believe that we will get Bush era increases in employment or GDP growth.
But to be fair and impartial, look at all the jobs and pensions for the Unions that our new King has saved!
