POTUS’s pushback/non-pushback on Paterson racism smear.

Aren't we supposed to be having a full and frank discussion on this sort of thing?

I mean, I wouldn’t want to get referenced during the casual race-baiting of the Governor of New York either, but it happened.  Heck, it happened to me, too – at least, in the sense that I’m one of the amorphous mass of people being accused 0f racism because we think that David Paterson is an incompetent dunderhead*.

Unlike the President, however, I don’t have aides that can call up the governor for me and complain, then leak that they did to the New York Post – and thus trying to have it both ways.  It must be nice…

*Which Paterson is.  He can’t even interpret his own state’s constitution properly.

Besides, it's not racism that's going to get Obama in the end,

it’s his rank incompetence and thuggish behavior. Which raises a question : When was the last time that we heard anything out of Tony Rezko? Or even about him? He was never sentenced, was he? Come to think of it, was he found guilty?

Sounds like Obama is worried...

about Patterson angering his friends/employees/worshippers in the media at a time when he’s counting on them to paint his health care plan in as positive light as possible.

I know it wasn't conservatives who tried to shut up Gov. Patterson. Therefore, it must have been those all-inclusive liberals...

Governor Patterson played the race card again when he stated: “I have been quiet for 17 months on this issue. …I played by the rules. It was a very difficult position to find myself in, and I’ve given it my best. I’ve done the best I can under the very trying circumstances the state is facing.”

Who made these “rules” to be quite on issues regarding race? 17 months ago would be March 2008 — right in the middle of the primary and presidential campaigns. Perhaps the groups that succeeded in “shutting up” the governor so he wouldn’t “rock the boat” were Obama’s Chicago henchmen and/or the DNC? This would also explain the White House’s response to the Governor.
