I was there at this meeting in Roswell, and the level of anger being thrown at Harry was extraordinary. I’ve never seen anything like it. He had ‘town halls’ scheduled over several days, and all accounts are that none of them went well. Another bit of ‘salt in the wound’ for those of us there was his comments that he thought it was better to vote for the bill (& by inference make Pelosi et al happy) and help put in two minor amendments to protect our area (they won’t), than to ‘sit in a corner and throw stones’. He actually said this several times with a straight face. Needless to say, this angered the crowd even more. There was a family member there from one of the local independent oil companies, who absolutely skewered Teague for the massive negative impact the bill will have on that industry. She rattled off an entire litany of the costs: taxes, layoffs, economic devistation on the local economy. Harry Teague is history, as these folks will not soon forget. By the way, he got to DC in part due to some support by Republicans who didn’t like the R candidate (perhaps too much like McCain?) and who thought Teague, with his connections with the oil industry, would at least look out for the main bread and butter of our area. To say they are pissed is putting it mildly.

As I said in an earlier post on RedState, this exact thing happened at our “townhall” meeting with Teague also. I think, unfortunately for him, that he was surprised that we wouldn’t play by his rules. People want answers and they want them now. We are tired of being treated like we are sheep and when we are all asking the same thing, what is wrong with answering the group as a whole? I agree with an earlier poster that he wanted to make sure he could change his answers as needed. This man definitely needs to go. He is stuck on stupid.

Everyone was asked to gather in the west-end meeting room. The only problem was that Congressman Teague was sitting in a corner booth in the restaurant, not in the meeting room with the people.

When I asked one of his staff about this arrangement, I was told that if I wanted to visit with the congressman, I would need to put my name on a sign-up sheet to visit with him one-on-one.

Gabrielle Giffords, elected in 2006 in a formerly R district, does this all the time. She uses a catchy name—”Congress In Your Corner.” You meet one-on-one with Giffords and a staffer

The beauty of it is twofold:

1) The representative can give different answers to different people, and no one will know. Usually the local media is pro-Democrat…so, if there is a reporter in earshot, any gaffes will probably be allowed to slip into the ether.
2) The rep is spared the embarassment of being asked (and flubbing) a tough question in front of lots of people with video cameras and an awareness of YouTube.

Teague apparently got the same training that Giffords received.

We can’t even make it rain in a small area of one zip code, but these idiot global warmists think we can control the climate of the entire planet Earth. Dumb, dumb, dumb. This is about more power to the government and less liberty for the people, plain and simple.

I’ve said it before and will again: if we can warm the planet, then we can cool the planet, which means we human beings can control the climate of the entire planet Earth. And that my friends is just stupid. Of course, since it has cooled in the last decade, now they have to say ‘climate change’. Well duh, the climate changes. Wow. Brilliant!

Then they will give them and you everything you want.
Obama is a good example.
He talks an almost conservative speech,
and then does what ever he wants, which is mostly liberal leaning.
He tells us what he thinks we want to hear,
and does what he thinks you want.
I know someone out there might actually do like Bush did.
Say what he means,
and means what he says,
and does so accordingly.
If you find some one like that, let us know.
Well, at least let me know.
These critters are hard to find in The Peoples Republic of Michigan.

Saved me from the drudgery.

I used to live in Vic Snyder’s district and called his office before the vote. I had a lengthy argument with his staffer. Snyder feels comfortable because even though he is in a Republican dominated district he never gets a challenger. Mind boggling. He’s an Oregon native. Wish he’d go home.

It has a list of the Reps who voted Aye from coal producing states. I omitted the reps from Chicago, Philadelphia, and Baltimore because I figured their constituents were more likely traders than coal workers.

Posting on this blog is one thing. However, the real action should be to run ads against people that voted for this, and against Barack Obama.

How about have something like a Wal-Mart ad, but instead of rolling back prices, you have ‘Yes We Can’ followed by the higher prices for a car, a house, a light bulb, steak, an apple, soda, etc?

Even better is a running campaign, as people won’t believe the content at first, but item after item of people talking about how to fight global warming…

One question that did get an answer was, since he had voted for legislation that would provide tax dollars to fight global warming, did he believe in global warming? His answer was, “I don’t know if I believe in it or not. I am not a scientist.”

In other words, not only did he not READ the bill, he’s not even sure whether he’d recognize that there’s a problem which even makes such a measure necessary. He’s willing to tank our economy simply on the say-so of Pelosi. What a fraud.

I do not know what the CongressCritters;&trade think about the people who make a living from coal in New Mexico. I can only conclude they are in DC too much to have a clue about what is in their constituents best interest.
