I’m glad that he did it – Presidential visits are usually treats for the troops – so I’ll just snicker at the press instead:

Much of the traveling press who accompanied Obama to Europe was kept in the dark. But the Iraq visit was a badly-kept secret, with government ministers in Baghdad sparking speculation about it several days before he left the U.S. a week ago.

Mind you, it’s a surprise to me as well – but then, I don’t have a staff. Or a travel budget. Or a salary, come to think of it. What’s their excuse?
