Brazil builds walls around Rio de Janeiro slums
RIO DE JANEIRO, March 28 (Reuters) – The government of Rio de Janeiro is building concrete walls to prevent sprawling slums from spreading farther into the picturesque hills of this world-famous tourist destination, an official said on Saturday.
This should end well.

PS: Not that the President of Brazil’s planning to listen to a white guy with blue eyes. Didn’t you hear? I’m one of the people responsible for the current economic crisis.
Um… sorry about that?

What could possibly go wrong?
Alitheia (Diary) Monday, March 30th at 8:03PM EST (link)People love walls; they are fun to paint on.
I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never be forced to live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.
Why a southern wall may not be a good idea
toddworsham (Diary) Monday, March 30th at 8:25PM EST (link)I used to be 100 percent for a wall on the southern border….but now I am not so sure. Laws that were used to hamper lefty protesters are now getting in the way of tea parties. A wall used to aid in raising the security of our country by keeping undesirables out could, one day, be used to keep EVERYONE in.
Now I know that sounds crazy but it would be gradual. It is not unreasonable to think that if things went really really bad and there was a wall present at either border it could be used to prevent the free flow of citizens away from the country.
Again, I know this makes me sounds like a tin foil hat wearer, but, if your grandkids are one day fenced in the failed American state they’ll say oh man my grandfather would be rolling in his grave if he knew the fence he helped get built was now being used to keep us in.
Just a thought
