…the problem is the over-regulation, the high tax rates (especially on small business), and the moronic incentives to do things that shouldn’t be done (like giving loans to those who can’t afford them).

If we had a “news” media with some semblance of fairness. This would have been played up bigger than GHWB’s breaking of his read my lips pledge. Obama’s boldness is breathtaking. No wonder though he has no problem being disingenuous when he knows his media flunkies will cover for him.

The Republicans can really make hay out of this statement. It was an enormous bluder for McCain to say the same thing in 2008, and it’s also a blunder for Obama.

No one in their right mind thinks this is just a temporary economic slowdown. The Obama administration is not going to be able to psyche out the markets into believing the good times are here again with his lofty speeches. This is the biggest economic crisis in the last 30 years, if not since the Great Depression.

Over the next few years, unemployment numbers will still be high, home values will still be greatly depressed, and peoples 401ks and IRA’s will still be in the toilet. Voters who are hurting won’t take kindly to an aloof and out of touch President telling them the economy is actually sound.

Republicans should really go on the offensive with this gaffe.
