there are definitely some places online you shouldn't bother to venture. The degree to which these separate ideologically pure entities coordinate their messages will give you some measure of their 'echo-chamber' effect. I know it happens on the other side, but let me give you an example from what I know: pretty much ever single Warner Todd Huston post that shows up at RedState shows up at NewsBusters as well. Maybe that's not a true echo-chamber as it is exactly the same content, but it's definitely the same message.

Not a criticism, just an observation.

There are outliers on both sides. Consider the Accountability Now PAC on the left and the Campaign for Liberty on the right. There are several prominent lefty bloggers promoting the former, and a lot more than a single rep from Texas promoting the latter. So far as I can tell there are no shills in that bunch, and no one is promoting party above principle. For that they both earn my respect even if I don't agree with them on some fundamental points.

...then why is it having leadership problems? Why can't it coalesce into a cohesive Party?

It is always amusing how the Left gloats at the divisiveness of leadership in the Right, while accusing the Right of being a bunch of 'dittoheads'.

It is always amusing how the Left projects its fear and paranoia onto all who are not them.
