Maj Gen. Dave Evans to run for TN-06.

His opponent, you'll remember, is the guy who went skiing in Europe on your money.

Yeah, Bart Gordon’s getting a challenger:

Tuesday night, Putnam County native, Major General Dave Evans announced his candidacy for Congress in a speech to the Putnam County Republican Party.

“I am here this evening,” Evans said speaking to a standing-room only crowd, “to announce that I will seek the Republican nomination to challenge liberal Democrat Bart Gordon for the privilege of representing Tennesseans who reside in the Sixth Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.”

Forgive the primitive nature of this post: it’s being done on a third-party computer. Anyway, as the above link shows Gen Evans has been considered a possibility for a challenge in TN-06 for some time now; so this isn’t really news – but it’s still welcome. We look forward to hearing more about his candidacy.

Sounds good so far.

I’d like to hear his views on fiscal issues, of course, but for now, he sounds like an excellent choice.

Gordon is highly vulnerable. Good news.

His district has trended Republican, and he is out of touch. Tennessee has two more districts, the fourth and eighth, I think, held by similarly vulnerable Democrats (if I got that one wrong I hope a local will correct it).

I have wondered why the Republicans have let these and many other highly competitive districts go unchallenged so long.

This is excellent news.

Perpetual redistricting

We’ve had a Democratic legislature for 100 years. It is now, for the first time, Republican.

Gordon has been opposed by Blackburn and Steve Gill prior to the most recent redistricting, Republicans have tried, and failed.

I'm in Gordon's district and am thrilled to pieces to have a credible candidate to support this time!

I know where my money is going this time around. Sick of getting Gordon’s emails justifying his votes for Pelosi’s wish lists and then trying to present it as if it’s just the bestest thing in the whole world and the perfect answer to the problem. That includes his mealy mouthed defense of the left’s position on not doing any offshore drilling. The only thing he has been even reasonably decent about are the troops, but then the Dems rolled over a bunch on that anyway.

Talk to Rick Goddard

Barnee (Diary) Wednesday, March 4th at 7:36PM EST (link)

Major General (Ret) Rick Goddard ran for Georgia’s 8th Congressional District seat against Democrat incumbent Jim Marshall and lost.

This should never have happened….but did.

Ask Rick to give Dave Evans an after action report.
