I should have put up the numbers, but Bush won <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election_in_Hawaii,_2004" rel="nofollow">45% of the vote there in 2004</a> and <a href="http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006//pages/results/states/HI/G/00/county.000.html" rel="nofollow">Lingle took the district comfortably (66%) in 2006</a>. The latter is probably more important than the former. :) A lock, it is not; and if Abercrombie doesn't end up running for Governor, Djou will have that tough row to hoe. But this is one for the political junkies to keep an eye on. …this race opens up. Patsy Mink passed away in late September, but still <a href="http://hawaii.gov/elections/results/2002/general/02swgen4.pdf" rel="nofollow">carried 52%</a> of the District on November 5 ... <i>another</i> Democrat (Ed Case) <a href="http://hawaii.gov/elections/results/2002/special/state.pdf" rel="nofollow">carried the District by 51%</a> in a special election the following November 30. In 2008, Districts 1 and 2 were <a href="http://hawaii.gov/elections/results/2008/general/files/histatewide.pdf" rel="nofollow">won by almost 70% by Democrats</a>, while 71.5% of the State voted for Obama. In 2008, Districts 1 and 2 were won by almost 70% by Democrats, while 71.5% of the State voted for Obama.
