Burris ought to fight to the bitter end, loudly invoking the cases of Emmanuel, Holder, and the unnamed "Obama aides" who dealt with the Governor.

Race card - sure, why not? It gets played all the time on flimsier grounds.

Burris should emulate a great Democratic hero in conducting his defense. Even when in full retreat, this icon refused to concede anything to the enemy at all, burning any asset his withdrawing troops could not take with them.

Hey, they admire everything else about Uncle Joe Stalin (especially his efficacy in dealing with critics), so why not go out with a "scorched earth policy," too?

He is no more dirty than Obama and Obama is the POTUS.Actually I would probably say that Burris at least got some genuine scrutiny before being seated unlike Obama.

If Holder and Rahm can keep their jobs after all the shady dealings with Blagojevich then why can't Burris?
All Burris needs to do is call it an oversight and apologize.
That's what everyone else got to do.

I hope he plays the race card.

I think that William Shakespeare would have a *great* deal of fun with this somewhere in his histories. (I think in order to have a Tragedy, someone has to die on stage and no one has in this. Yet.).

I wonder if the Democrats would have seated him if Minnesota had been sorted out one way or another. Oddly enough, this could mean that if Franken wins eventually in court, he could manage to not actually be Senator at the same time as Burris.
