You know, lack of zeal makes President Obama cry:

You don't want him to cry, do you?

No?

Then why have you not rewritten your weekend plans. the better to oblige his desire?

Results in on Obama’s grassroots appeal: It’s a bust

WASHINGTON — Few supporters are answering President Barack Obama’s call for nationwide house-party gatherings this weekend to build grass-roots support for his economic stimulus plan.

A McClatchy survey of sign-up rosters for a score of cities across the country revealed only 34 committed attendees in Tacoma, Wash., as of midafternoon Friday; in Fort Worth, Texas, only 54, and in Sacramento, Calif., just 78.

“Before the election, we would have had 500 to 800,” said Kim Mack, 46, a Sacramento city-facility manager who’s hosted house parties for political figures and causes since the mid-’90s.

Weren’t you Obama supporters paying attention during the election? This is what you signed up for: spending your weekends and other free time (not to mention laying out your spare cash) lecturing your friends and neighbors about whatever policy-it-is that the administration feels like flogging this week. Surely you didn’t think that merely voting for Obama was going to be the end of it, right? I mean, the First Lady told you what the deal was:

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

That’s you. She’s talking to you, Obama supporter – and, thanks to your participation in this exercise when it was all excitement, sizzle, and fun (instead of amateur presentations on why a trillion dollar payout to Democratic special interest groups is good for the country) they have your name, address, phone number, cell phone number, demographic data, and credit card information. So you’re just going to have to do better next time.

Or are you a sunshine patriot?

If this Particular Couple is.......

…. indicative of the quality of thought that comes out of Washington State, well, unless ardor counts for everything.
It’s 10:30 AM EST on a Thanksgiving morning and this loving couple comes up to the pharmacy pickup window and throws down a prescription label from a Walgreen’s Drugstore for Yaz. “Can you fill this?’ is the question.
” No problem” is the answer in silent thought until you notice it’s from Seattle Washington, where it’s still 7:30AM. In the meantime, the couple are all over each other and you’re fully expecting a pornographic scene to play out momentarily on the waiting area floor in the back of the store.
And then the male states “The prescription is no longer at that store it’s at Costco”
You try to explain tactfully that you need to call the pharmacy holding the prescription to obtain a copy to legally fill the prescription and that in all probability the Costco back home is closed, since the local Costco down the street is closed. The only option left is to call the gynecologist, but it’s still 7:30AM on a Thanksgiving morning back home. The couple defer the request and proceed on their merry way.
You and your romantic male companion leave your homes to travel over a holiday weekend to a place three thousand miles away and forget your birth control prescription?
A week before their neighbors back home were busily placing their infants and toddlers on the railway tracks in front of approaching trains and also in the roadways in front of heavy transport vehicles bringing military supplies and other materiels down to the embarkation ports for shipment overseas.

Perfect!

Sure, it’s fun to work hard when it’s all glitz and sparkles. But now the boring but so necessary grunt work is at hand where the spotlight has moved and there aren’t so many big blow-out celebrations.
Actually completing a mission laid down by your Leader is a lot different than holding up signs at a campaign rally, isn’t it?

are easy. Governing is hard. Legislation doesn’t get passed by Hope. It takes getting into the trenches and doing more than throwing out cool sound bytes. Most people just want the sound bytes, then the bill.

The best thing that ever happened to the Dems from the Republican perspective is that the Dems are in charge now. They can’t jsut complain anymore. They have to produce. Which Dems in general (there are exceptions) are incapable of doing.

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.

This Just Goes to Show What We Are Up Against

Spartan4Life (Diary) Saturday, February 7th at 9:44AM EST (link)

The idea that anybody would even consider going to a policy house party is very disturbing to me.

It is becoming clear that the Obama movement is just a small band of zealots squawking louder than the rest of us. If we let them win then it is on us.

You'll find that most of them are union activists

of some stripe and almost exclusively public employees or unionized workers in regulated or government dependent industries. The participants themselves in contrast with the organizers will have some fair number of students and environmental activists or true believers.

The NEA alone has a steward (Faculty Representative) in practically every school in America. That in itself is enough structure to organize a LOT of house parties. AFSCME and SEIU each have at least a couple million members and you could assume a Steward for every couple hundred of those members.

They can organize these things in the name of member and community education and use dues money to advertise, buy the pizza for everybody. That beomes a little more risky when it involves outright candidate support, but in the Blue states it is exceedingly unlikely that anyone will do anything about it. If there’s any risk, the Business Agent (paid union staff) will just pay for the pizza and beer and put it on his/her expense account.

A Vocal Minority(Unions) Taking Over This Country

Spartan4Life (Diary) Saturday, February 7th at 10:23AM EST (link)

Private sector union members are, what, like 10% of the workforce? I know public employee union membership is growing but I still believe this is a minority movement.

It has always struck me as non-constitutional that public employees can unionize anyway. So, they take my tax dollars and apply them to getting people elected that I find abhorrent. Maybe we should highlight the Auto, Airline, and Education industries as great examples of union success stories in our once great country.

I’m just saying, if we stand by and let it happen then it is on us.

As for the free pizza, that might explain Debbie Stabenow.

My weekend plans will make Teh Mess-I-Yah turn ashen.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Saturday, February 7th at 9:49AM EST (link)

In a few minutes and in order to stimulate our economy, I shall take leave of home to venture out into the mass of humanity at Bass Pro Shops for a wee bit of currency exchange: Current in-use paper currency will be replaced with what will more than likely be the new form: The well-known combination of Brass & Lead.

After said exchange, I shall venture forth towards yon outdoor firing range in the exercise of my 2nd Amendment Right to keep and bear Arms, which has not yet been infringed.

After having a successful day outdoors, I shall repair to a certain cigar bar (no, I don’t smoke, but I really like the place) to imbibe a dram of a Crown Royal Cask 16 and visitation with friends of like mind.

Then…….. Ta Daaaa !…….. NASCAR IS BACK ! The Bud Shootout takes place this evening (8pm Eastern) time at Daytona International Speedway and my driver randomly drew the 15th starting position (of 28 participants) – I have every confidence of a top ten finish for Squire James and the 26 Crown Royal team.

The day excursion is intended to be repeated on the morrow, with the addition of particular attention paid to participation within the moving-target obstacle course at said firing range.

God Bless America.

Cheers !
