Meanwhile, Senator Feinstein is *also* doubtful about the stimulus.

Admittedly, it\'s because she loves taxes.

Something for our mild amusement while we wait for the Democrats to flout the will of the American people with this pork bill:

WASHINGTON — Convinced tax cuts will not stimulate the nation’s economy, Sen. Dianne Feinstein spoke out Friday against President Barack Obama’s economic recovery package.

“I’m going increasingly concerned about the bill as to whether it is really going to be a stimulus,” she told fellow Senators during a debate of the bill.

[snip]

Feinstein said her issue with the bill is the tax cuts included.

“What in my view a stimulus is, is not candidly speaking a tax package,” she said. “I do not believe in this economy tax cuts are simulative… I worry about this economy. The point of this package is to get jobs out to the people. So I reserve the right at the end of the day to vote against a package that does put those jobs out there.”

See also AoSHQ. Will she cave? Of course; she can live with the grubby little proletariat out there getting a tax cut, just as long as all the people out there that really matter get paid off. It’s… interesting, though, that Ace is being more generous than I am about figuring out Feinstein’s motives; it’s usually the other way around. Must be Opposites Friday, or something.

We’re both pretty much in agreement that this is going to be the Democrats’ puppy, though. Fair warning: three Republicans ain’t going to be bipartisan.

So proud to be a Californian right now....

*sigh* – it is going to be a long couple of years… Is there a female elected official from California in Washington that is not certifiably insane???

at least Feinstein knows enough to doubt

that borrowing and spending will work.

you can cut taxes and cut spending (my preference)

you can raise taxes and increase spending (feinstein’s preference)

but you really shouldn’t borrow and spend, if you can at all avoid it.

She's got no problem with borrowing and spending

She just doesn’t want to see tax cuts. Ever. Because in her mind they are apparently bad for the economy, or at least won’t do anything to spur economic activity. She isn’t even pretending to care about the deficit.

ok, well, if that's true, then i take it back.

Having worked for Feinstein I know that she really doesn't understand money.

She was among those fearing that Proposition 13 would destroy California. Instead it created 800.000 new jobs in the first year after passage. It did require the state to bail out counties and school districts because of their program of too high taxes, but they certainly had more than enough money to do it.

We all need to look at California and its present situation which has been caused precisely by the likes of Feinstein, Boxer and Pelosi. What the Democrats have already done to the economic situation in California is what they are planning for the whole country and precisely what this bill is about. What Diane wants is higher taxes and greater wasteful spending.
