I’ve noted how he cannot stand criticism. The more he runs around trying to squelch it, the more he is going to have to run around trying to squelch it. It would be a lot of fun to get him running in circles, spending his whole time doing that, if the international consequences were not so grave. Our domestic, Federalist structure could handle the distraction, even the absence of the Executive for quite awhile.

He thinks that he has inherited a mess from President Bush? I dread to contemplate the mess that his successor will inherit from him.

And they don’t care, in fact they are counting on the misery increasing.

What it will do is cement their status in the eyes of their core supporters and attract new supporters from the masses of unemployed that get money handed to them as they continue to struggle to make ends meet.

After all, what is the point of spending 700 Billion in order to prevent the fiscal market from collapsing just to run it dry borrowing like a madman?

The first words out of her mouth were, “I should tell him not to kill babies before they are born.”

I said that might not go over too well with her liberal NYC school friends.

She then said, “I think he shouldn’t raise taxes.”

I said that her friends might not understand that one either.

So I told her to write this: “Please do not make the government too big by spending too much money. I and my friends do not want to be paying for wasted money when we grow up.”

It makes no sense at all . . . no wonder Democrats flock to it!

There is plenty of time for staff to research, committee hearings, and etc. to determine which initiatives are worthwhile and which are not. So why the urgency to pass the entire package in one fell swoop?

The only possible reasons I can deduce are that Democrats understand most of their proposed spending cannot withstand normal scrutiny (even such as it is in the Congress), and that they understand the recession is bound to end eventually and hope to use this package to gain credit for ‘saving the country’ amongst people stupid enough to consider voting for them in the first place.

Which brings up an interesting question, why are they even pushing a bill that would cost hundreds of Billions of dollars if they are not completely convinced that it will succeed?

If I were them and I thought that this bill was going to create 4 Million jobs out of nothing more than a Congressional resolution, than I would want to make sure no Republicans voted for it. Why let them take credit when it “succeeds” when you can use it against them in the next round of Congressional Elections?

Now, darn it, do your victory dance!

I didn’t think we’d get to say “I told you so” just nine days after Obama was installed, but it’s happening. As you point out, the key is that public support for this bill has been crumbling all week, once people began to realize that it’s just the same old Democrat grab-bag of goodies and garbage. Watching Pelosi on Sunday with Stephanopolous—- trying to defend the inclusion of millions of dollars for contraceptives funding—I had a feeling that this thing would be Obama-Biden’s worst nightmare.

Another one of those fun moments came today, watching “truthless Joe” being interviewed by John Harwood of CNBC. Biden looked white as a sheet, and was feebly trying to assure us that “the bill is definitely going to be changed, for sure”…..yeah, Joe, you finally got one right. The bill might even be killed.

And in the meantime, the “President” has allowed himself to be drawn into a pissing match with a talk radio personality—one that will bury him given half a chance. I knew that Obama was going to fold—just didn’t think that it was going to happen this quickly. He has told us that we are in the “greatest crisis since the Great Depression”, but he and his cast of thousands have totally muffed their first major legislation to deal with it…..legislation which was originally promised to be on his desk by innauguration day.

Well, I can only hope the bother to look at the poll numbers. If the Senate holds the line too, that would be a blow of epic proportions to the Pelosi-Reid-Obama Axis.
