Support the Rangel Rule Bill!

"Come, man!" cried Carthoris. "We are not dead yet. Let us hasten to the avenues and make an attempt to leave the city. We are still alive, and while we live we may yet endeavour to direct our own destinies. Of what avail, to sink spineless to the floor? Come, be a man!"

It’s not up yet at THOMAS, but really: it’s the thought that counts. From Representative JOHN CARTER OF MARS!… err, actually, Texas’ 31st district (and a Republican, of course), we have this fun little bill:

All U.S. taxpayers would enjoy the same immunity from IRS penalties and interest as House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Obama Administration Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, if a bill introduced today by Congressman John Carter (R-TX) becomes law.

Carter, a former longtime Texas judge, today introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009, HR 735, which would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from charging penalties and interest on back taxes against U.S. citizens. Under the proposed law, any taxpayer who wrote “Rangel Rule” on their return when paying back taxes would be immune from penalties and interest.

Via AoSHQ, where they’re just as aware as we are that the Democratic Congress would never dare let this become law. After all, where would the country be if the proletariat was able to access the same considerations and exceptions currently enjoyed by the aristos running the place?  – Still, nice point there, Warlord.

What?  Has Edgar Rice Burroughslived in vain?  What did some of you people do growing up?

Press Conference!

Raven (Diary) Wednesday, January 28th at 11:37PM EST (link)

Hold a press conference every day on the progress of this bill. Ram home just how good certain people have just because they’re Dems…

Hilarious.

I was just reading that on Fox News not five minutes ago.
I have a few more suggestions of my own.

How about McKinney’s Law where you could slap a cop and not get wrestled to the ground and arrested.

Kennedy’s Law.This law would exempt you from any penalties if you hit a cop car late at night in Washington D.C. all high on drugs and alcohol. You would even get a free ride home. There are several other versions of that law.

How about Bergers’s Law where you could steal classified documents from the National Archives and not only not go to jail you also end up advising a Presidential candidate on national security.

Obama was right about the two Americas thing.
There is one America were the little people have to follow the law and there is the other America where high profile Democrats laugh at the law.

Of course it won’t pass, but it will sure make Rush tomorrow! This is the kind of fight I’ve longed for in elected Rs. This Congressman is absolutely brilliant.

Tim Schieferecke

Agreed - a brilliant bill

Janice Cantore Thursday, January 29th at 12:14AM EST (link)

This really brightened my night after being depressed all day about the pork bill. The only thing scary it that the democrats keep lowering the bar, Clinton started it with the whole “its only sex” thing, now it’s only tax cheating, what’s next?

Janice Cantore

Actually, I'd say Kennedy started it all

at the bridge, which means the bar is already at excluding manslaughter and doesn’t have much more to go to reach complete anarchy.

That's awesome!

Beaglescout (Diary) Thursday, January 29th at 12:34AM EST (link)

How about the Dollar Bill Jefferson rule, where you can conceal evidence of criminal acts if you hide it in your office, even if it isn’t in the House of Reps? Or the Bill Clinton “meaning of is” rule preventing any prosecutor from using the verb “to be” against you?

Judge: Are you or are you not saying the accused committed the crime?

Prosecutor: I cannot say, sir. He used the Bill Clinton defense.

Don't forget Reno's Law.

NeoKong (Diary) Thursday, January 29th at 8:11AM EST (link)

This law will allow you to cause the deaths of 81 people in a horrible fire. Not only will there be no penalty, you will still keep your job and can even run for governor later.

I liked John Carter

He got to do the “he-man” bit on Mars with very nice female scenery.

I lost interest in the series, though, when his son became the focal point. So I know Carthoris only by reputation.
