This Hill story’s getting hit by Drudge… [Bumped and updated.]

Remember this event, the next time a Democrat holds out his hand to you.

[Update: Video added, and the Hill's Blog Briefing Room is back up, so I'm cutting back the article.]

…and, given the general meltdown of the Internet, it’s currently down. Via comments here:

Bush Mocked As He Arrives on Inauguration Dais
@ 11:52 am by Hill Staff

The crowd packed on the west side of the Capitol grounds serenaded President Bush in mocking fashion when he took to the inaugural stage alongside Vice President Dick Cheney.

“Nah nah nah nah, hey hey, good-bye,” a section of the crowd chanted.

I’m not particularly surprised, honestly. As ye sow, so shall ye reap – and this is what the Democrats sowed.

It’s a good thing there weren’t any Freepers out in front of the White House eight years ago last night. Otherwise they might have done the same thing.

They can all go straight to hell

Jack_Savage (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 5:18PM EST (link)

Including Barack Obama.

And the real kicker is the horse’s ass Chris Mathews complaining about the “bad form” being shown when that little worm and his pathetic little network have been doing exactly the same thing for years now.

Straight to hell?

weave (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:13PM EST (link)

So your response to a horrible showing of disrespect to President Bush is that President Obama can go straight to hell?

Unlike the disrespect shown by many to President Bush over the past eight years, I intend to respect the new President while pointing out every chance I get when he does something I don’t agree with — and I am expecting to be quite busy for the next four years.

Yep

Jack_Savage (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:42PM EST (link)

I am a lot more Old Testament than you are, I guess.

All the best with the New Tone. Seems to have worked very well for the past eight years.

Well, Jack Savage, we can name ours "New Tone 2.0-Retribution",

janis (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:57PM EST (link)

which, to me at least, beats “New Tone 2.0- Tribulations”.

As nice as Bush has been to the Obama’s, our Nation has NOT been attacked since 9/11 and you think on this day they could be nice but no I guess that is not possible!!!

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Predictable behavior from some...

Gizzard Tuesday, January 20th at 6:11PM EST (link)

…but please do not lump all Obama supporters in with the riff-raff. I am unapologetic in my support for the man, but I was as disappointed as any of you to hear those chants.

I wasn’t there in D.C., but I would wager that the vast majority of people on hand were respectful. It’s simply the unfortunate reality that the most annoying are often the most vocal.

It reminds me of the audible booing of Obama’s name at McCain’s exceptional concession speech. And on that occasion, too, I did not take the bad form of the few to be an accurate reflection of the vast majority of Republicans and Conservatives who handled the occasion with class.

Rather than those ugly chants, I will choose to remember the image of the genuinely warm embrace that 43 and 44 shared earlier in the day. Don’t confuse the man with his most misguided supporters.

Gizzard, the vast majority of people on hand...

Moe Lane (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:05PM EST (link)

…chanted na na na na, na na na na, wey-hey-ey, good-bye.

Bluntly? Take your sorrow at the behavior of your fellow-Obama supporters and express it somewhere else. Preferably, to a place where expressing it will actually do something to stop such typically childish behavior in the future.

I understand your anger.

Gizzard Tuesday, January 20th at 7:23PM EST (link)

And to your final suggestion: “[Go elsewhere,] Preferably, to a place where expressing it will actually do something to stop such typically childish behavior in the future.”

I would. But, unfortunately, such people are unreachable.

But, out of respect for this community, I will back off of such expressing such sentiments here if they are universally slammed or ignored.

But, to be clear, my unsaid point is this: I think it would be sad if ugly Rs act as badly as ugly Ds in the next four or eight years. The cycle has to end somewhere. Or else we reasonable people will forever be plagued by morons on both sides saying: “Well, they treated our guy that way. I’m gonna treat their guy that way.” Someone has to be the “bigger man” here. And it certainly won’t be them. So, let it be you all. I think you would be amazed at how attractive that might be to voters like me who would gladly switch columns next time around.

Gizzard, you would "gladly switch columns next time"?

janis (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:39PM EST (link)

Why on earth would you do that? If you are a firm supporter of Obama, what possible attraction could you feel for conservatives like us? Or is it that you think we might be gullible enough to nominate another Dem-lite like McCain who you could support? Fat chance !!

I’d be interested to know why you made that remark, please.

If he replies to it he's banned, so don't expect a response.

Moe Lane (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:41PM EST (link)

Do what you will.

Gizzard Tuesday, January 20th at 7:49PM EST (link)

Bye all! No harm intended.

They never listen.

Moe Lane (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:56PM EST (link)

Note well, folks: the “reasonable” ones will do anything to end the cycle… except criticize the people on their own side who are helping to cause it.

Jack_Savage (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 7:45PM EST (link)

You had ample chance to end it the cycle – eight years, to be exact – and if you are dumb enough to vote for Barack Obama I really don’t want your support.

"the cycle has to end somewhere"??

ddlbb Tuesday, January 20th at 8:00PM EST (link)

i’ll let it end with the next guy. i, for one, intend on showing 44 the same respect shown to 43…none. classy…booing president bush. i am NOT proud of our country when crap like this is celebrated. glad i didn’t tune in today to see this brand of “history.” yes, we all have a right to free speech. i, for one, will exercise mine here, but if i ever happen to see president obama in person, i will certainly not be the pig these people were and boo him. for the first time in my adult life, i am ashamed of my country.

I suggest you stay away for a few days until emotions cool down. But when you do come back, please let us know what conservative or Republican values you find attractive.

I guess one key difference between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives base their votes on governing philosophy and policies – tangibles – rather than on intangibles such as how particular supporters behave. We didn’t vote against Obama because of his supporters’ behavior but because of his governance; the behavior of his supporters is just confirmatory evidence for the soundness of our judgment.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty business concern. -C.S. Lewis

Obama is nothing more than a puppet. He came from nowhere, had an abysmal senate record, is still wet behind the ears, and cannot even speak without a teleprompter. Just who is behind him holding the (purse) strings? Is it Soros? I don’t know, but someone is. Obama is not in charge. We don’t know who is. So how can all of these liberals out there be so optomistic when they just elected an unknown as POTUS. Let me correct that. We do know some things about him, but none of them are good and none of them are certainly American. However, now that Obama is in office, let’s see what happens. And when horrible things happen (and they are bound to), I will hold each and every person who voted for him personally responsible. Let’s all be nice and let’s all sing kumbayah (sp)? I don’t think so. You libs all disrespected the Office of the President for the last 8 years. Now you’ll get a small taste of your own medicine.

Don't feel all alone.

Flagstaff (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 8:45PM EST (link)

I have felt from the beginning of the “dump Hillary” campaign that Soros was in the process of buying the Presidency. We’ll see if we’re paranoid or right or both.

Now the libbies get the white house, the war should be over...

Thus proving the libbies only know one language… quit, fail, acquiesce, fall…
Iraq was a quagmire, right? Now libbies revert to the only language they understand… they demand failure of themselves, and now wish it of us.
God help me (and good vertebrates everywhere) if we ever speak or understand libberish.

Just as noisy and classless and ignorant they proved over every moment of the past two terms, now they are pacified: we should shut up.
There is no middle ground. We shall either win or win.

wait until we have to fight a war right here. The terror patrols will have 4 years to wreak unfettered violence. Are you ready?

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

I hope not...

roscopico (Diary) Wednesday, January 21st at 12:50AM EST (link)

For the time being (IMHO) we have no worries… the police and military lean to our side.

We are the federalists as opposed to the mob-rule democrats.

Mob rule may become the order of the day, but thankfully the rule of law still applies (for now).

Liberals should appreciate George Bush more than conservatives do

David123 (Diary) Tuesday, January 20th at 8:32PM EST (link)

It’s been over 7 year since 9-11 and George Bush has kept all America safe.

But, let’s suppose George Bush hadn’t been so successful at fighting terrorism.

Where would the terrorists have struck? Washington or Wasilla, New York or Nome, Philadelphia or Fargo, Berkeley or Bismark? Probably the city of the more liberal persuasion would be the more tempting terrorist target, wouldn’t it?

While all Americans should be thankful for the success of the GWOT led by President Bush, Liberals should be especially thankful.

David123

Probably the city of the more liberal persuasion would be the more tempting terrorist target, wouldn’t it?

roscopico (Diary) Wednesday, January 21st at 1:00AM EST (link)

Not so much. Terrorists might like wimpified Americans to think they don’t have a dog in the fight. Nobody got pissed when they hit the USS Cole…

Hit a young man serving our country, shame on him, hit a Cindy Sheehan protesting her freedom, shame on you…
