The bit about how Burris was doing opposition research for Blagojevich in 2006 came at precisely the right time, though: too late for the Democrats to do anything about it.
Burris approved for Obama’s old Senate seat
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senate officials on Monday approved Roland Burris to fill the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama, which would give Democrats 58 of the Senate’s 100 seats, their biggest majority since 1981.
Barring unanticipated objections from Senate Republicans, Burris, appointed to the seat by embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, could be sworn in within days.
The decision was a major about-face by the Democratic leadership, which initially vowed that the December appointment would not stand because Blagojevich had been arrested on charges of having earlier tried to sell the seat.
There was no way that the GOP was going to get in the way of the Democrats currently chainsawing themselves over this, of course: Allahpundit has the timeline, as well as the helpful observation that the Senate, the Illinois Democratic Party, and President-Elect Obama got smacked around good and hard by a deeply unpopular Democratic Governor who is looking at spending a large portion of the rest of his life behind bars. And, bluntly? Rod Blagojevich made it look easy. In other words, the Democrats have fully embarrassed themselves on this one, and everybody knows it.
So roll on 2010. Because now the Democrats are stuck with Blagojevich appointee Burris in that seat.

I honestly had my belief that Blagojevich would recognize how horribly he’s made a laughingstock of his State and just step down. I guess I held out some residual smear of hope that Blago would recognize how low he really was, and how badly he’s screwed the people of Illinois.
But he didn’t! He went ahead with it anyway!
Good. This is what the Democrats are. A perfectly corrupt Governor still gets his wish after essentially defrauding everyone who voted for him.

on the Burris thing meh it was FUN while it lasted and I will reiterate what I have said before IF this is NOT used in every election with a large black population as an AD the Republicans are fools…..BECAUSE this would have TARRED the Republican Party for the next 20 years!

Harry Reid: “He obviously is a very engaging, extremely nice man. He presents himself well”. I can’t believe this. This is a typical democrat playbook. This is a case of Reid not getting his “white” candidates in. Booby Rush is right. This is Racism by Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Liberal Racism. He doesn’t want anybody else to be a symbol of breaking this Race Barrier.
And yes… Why are we not calling out the incompetence of these guys as lawyers (Reid/Obama). It was clear from the moment Blago announced his pick that senate will need to seat this guy. Or they will be made to seat him by courts.
I guess everybody was having too much fun to bother about responding to a comment. Actually that was the best thing to do.
