Reid will not seat Burris, ostensibly because the Senate rules require certification by the Secretary of State, which certification is not (yet) forthcoming. But Franken does not have certification, yet Reid is willing, even anxious, to seat him. Depending on how Coleman’s challenge plays out, it could be months before the Minnesota Secretary of State certifies the election. Meanwhile, Reid accepts Franken, but not Burris Furthermore, Reid will seat Burris if someone – anyone! – besides Blago would appoint him. But Reid is not a racist. However,… er, I’m getting lost down here.
