How can Burris be seated when he doesn’t meet the criteria? He has no felony convictions or even any pending indictments…I mean really who does he think he’s hanging with Mr. Rogers? No street cred what so ever and that’s a must in ILLinois.

While it is far from me to say that Burris is a man with a powerful and huge ego, it is not sufficient to expel him solely on that basis and for being Blajo’s pick as well.

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two-thirds, expel a Member.

I’m no constitutional expert, but on its surface, it seems obvious to me that a member should only be expelled for disorderly behavior, and as far I know, Burris has not engaged in any kind of disorderly behavior. Being asked to take over Obama’s seat does not equate to having engaged in criminal activity, unless evidence was provided.

I’ve got nothing against Burris, though I think he is an idiot for taking up on Blajo’s offer. Maybe it’s just that Burris likes to have attention from media. I don’t know, but to me, Reid and his ilk is overreacting to this whole thing. Until evidence surfaces which clearly demonstrates Burris did engage in some sort of criminal activity in connection to Obama’s vacated seat, Reid and Co. should just shut up their mouths and move on.

Didn’t these Democratic Senators ever read the actual wording of the Constitution? Nowhere it says that just because a corrupt governor appoints a Senator-designate, the US Senate can avoid seating him at all.

Sure it does, right there in the Constitution.

The Senate can seat, or not seat, anyone they please.

Just because an activist SCOTUS tried to impose its will back in ’69 and say that the Constitution doesn’t say that doesn’t mean squat. Because, in fact, it does.
