but I'm inclined to go with your original assessment and leave his age out of it: Harry Reid is an idiot.

Reid's logic is somewhat puzzling:

He has voiced support for the appointment of the top law enforcement officer in Illinois to fill Obama's unexpired term, although she has willfully chosen to ignore Illinois Law. I don't understand the logic behind that at all. However, I'm not a Democrat.

He has also voiced support for the appointment of an unsuccessful Democratic congressional candidate to fill Obama's unexpired term, presumably because she "got really good health care" and opposed our military operations in Iraq. At least I can see where Reid could shamelessly exploit her victim status on the Senate floor.

I dont think there are any in the Senate are there? and not a lot in the house.

Truth is, for all the devotion they have given the democratic party, the nominaiton of a half – black man is about the most the party has done for them in forty years.

So far, his public statements, comments and actions concerning the possible replacements for Obama’s open senate seat have legitimized that line of inquiry.

I’m not saying that Harry Reid is racist, but at this point in time, he’s done nothing to dispel that notion.
