I think JMac has it wrong – Look at the polls. The public wants someone other than Bush. They have already figured out that Obama is not Bush. Bashing Obama may be great sport, but JMac’s anger is better directed at making sure that a significant portion of the 75% who don’t like the job Bush is doing understand why JMac is not Bush. It appears to me not only has he not done that yet (to the satisfaction of a majority of the population) but he’s not really trying to send that message.

If this McCain shows up for the next 4 weeks, we can win this thing. My greatest fear in this election is McCain decides he would rather be a Bob Dole-type figure a beloved “honorable” loser in the MSM’s eyes.

It looks like McCain is going to make this a race. He needs to go after Obama fiercely in the next debates.

I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet.

I am glad that he finally decided that there is nothing dishonorable about attacking an opponent on his actions, associations, record, and judgment. I was worried that in McCain’s spirit of bipartisanship he would think everything was off limits. It is good to see him out attacking the actions of the man.

Somebody needs to provide McCain with a tally of just how many DEMOCRATS were sitting at the top of all of these now-defunct banks and institutions. MSM has been most successful in shoving the idea down the throats of the American people that everybody on Wall Street and in corporate America must be REPUBLICAN. WRONG. Let’s have names & faces of every democrat involved in this financial meltdown. For extra points, McCain needs to suggest that under his administration, he will consider a measure to exempt all active duty and retired military income from federal income tax.

McCain is finally showing some fighting spirit and hitting Obama where it hurts. McCain needs to come out swinging tomorrow night!

This is it and if McCain can keep up this intensity and concentrated attack, the wheels will start to come off the Obama wagon. Obama and the MSM haven’t been able to stop Palin.

With McCain throwing the punches now, this won’t give Obama or the MSM a chance to get a second wind.

just keep repeating this as the message: obama’s record of failure on housing, schooling, and welfare reform

McCain is at his best when he’s behind. We’ll just have to see how the next 4 weeks.

Nail him! This is what we need to see! If McCain can get this into the debate, over and over again, hammer home these facts, and then follow them up with adverts explaining it all, get it on the media agenda, he can change things around.

He needs to turn to Obama, multiple times, and say ‘Why did you oppose regulation when I supported it? Was it anything to do with the fact that you got the most from Fannie of anyone in Congress? Why do you keep lying, saying I opposed regulation, when I proposed it multiple times and you and the Democrats in Congress consistently rejected it?’ What can Obama say? How can he possibly defend himself? He’ll flounder and ‘um’ and ‘ah’. There is no greater weapon than the truth.

Does anyone think this is misdirection? That John will hit Obama with something else at the debate that he’s not prepared for? To get The One umming and ahhhing, and looking like a liar?

I have to admit I was getting a little concerned. From the beginning, I believed McCain far to seasoned to let somebody like BO run over him. But recently, I was pretty sure I was seeing the Dole campaign all over again.

Well, I was wrong (that’s how you say it Senator Obama). I now believe that this is going to be one of MANY attacks we’ll see over the next few weeks. If McCain hits him with changing weaknesses over the remainder of the campaign, BO will have to spend the rest of the time defending himself. Of course he could just lie. He’s seems to have that down pretty good.

McCain must stress all of the above and keep on trucking to the White House.

Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama’s close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama’s constituents suffered. Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.

John finally gets how to attack! I’m so proud of him!

During the entire, drawn out, democratic primary this website was filled with people moaning about how McCain wasn’t bashing Obama on all of the dirt that the Clinton campaign was digging up. McCain seemed feeble and unwilling to fight…that seemed to be the general opinion. The Dem’s convention was a big flop…it seemed they thought McCain was feeble and unwilling to fight as well, the clinton’s didn’t help much. Obama did not perform his best.

Obama is now 10 points ahead in all the polls. There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Palin is selected as VP and….

The GOP has it’s best ever month in fundraising…McCain is ahead in the polls for a while…everyone is finally enthusiastic and we see site traffic that shuts down the servers and makes reading RedState almost impossible for a short while.

Now, suddenly, the economy basically stops working (detailed extensivly here by several authors) We all know that it’s the Democrats’ fault, yet McCain seems to be reluctant to call out anyone by name…He seems to be wasting his time trying to get a bailout bill passed instead. Obama’s poll numbers magically climb even though he didn’t actually do anything to help make the sausage….there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Now, after a bill that represents the best our current government can do to adress our current economic crisis has been signed into law…almost the day after….McCain goes on a two-front attack. Palin is questioning Obama’s judgement abut what kind of friends he surrounds himself with, and McCain calls Obama an outright LIAR ( about time) and rhetorically kicks sand in his face.

I think McCain knows what he is doing. He knows when to save his ammo and when to blow it all at once.

Attacking Obama during the democratic primary might have resulted in running against Hillary, a much tougher fight.

He waited until october (and after the bailout passed) to start nailing democrats on the economic meltdown and from what I see, it is working.

Democrats are actually complaining about unfair attacks now, because it’s so close to voting day. That is like complaining abut your opponent’s marksmanship during a duel.

And in this case, the trolls for Obama are seething. Shows this is an effective strategy for McCain.
