How do we know that Senator Obama doesn’t care about the Keating 5?

Let me rephrase: how do we know that he's being a hypocrite about it?

Because he’s brought in Senator John Glenn to stump for his campaign, that’s why.

For those too young to remember, Senator Glenn – who is a brave man and a genuine American hero – was one of the Keating Five: in fact, he was one of the two who “were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised ‘poor judgment’.” The other was, of course, Senator John McCain. It should be amusing to watch people try to contort themselves over explaining this particular inconsistency away…

The obvious other option is that this little inconsistency will suffer the same fate as countless other Obama gaffes, inconsistencies, lies, and shady dealings — the silence of the grave. It will simply not be noticed/discussed among those who talk the loudest.

The Keating 5 attacks are to distract from Ayers

I think the end result is probably going to be a wash too.

The Ayers/Wright angle was played out by Hillary in the primaries and went all of no where.

It’s unlikely to get any traction on a day the DOW dips below 10,000.

In the end the two attacks (Ayers/Keating) are likely be offsetting since they seem equally silly.

But how can we criticize John Glenn?

John Glenn, a member of the Mercury 8 astronauts, a former Marine officer, one of the first Americans in Space…how can we criticize him? Why, he’s a genuine American HERO, one of the great Americans of the 60s and 70s who demonstrated selfless service and great courage, whereas John McCain is – oh wait a minute – um never mind.

He, like McCain, was a minor player in all this.

You remind the public of the three dems, Cranston, DiConcini, and???? (I’m drawing a blank and too lazy to look it up) that the Senate rapped for being in deep. And you use it as a tie in to the absolute mess the dems, including Obama’s advisors that led us down this path to hell we are on right now.

The democrat party that allowed the Keating 5 is the same partythat was content to “roll the dice” with Fannie and Freddie.

The problem McCain faces with this tactic is that Glenn is not running for President, he’s behaving as a party hack.

I’m not sure how you tie Keating to the current mess, we had Phil Gramm in charge of the Senate Finance and Banking committee when this all started to go bad. It just seems McCain is trying to use buckshot when a well-placed round would serve his cause better.

The American public is not a bunch of leftist radicals. Quite the contrary. That is why the Ayers angle will have traction this time while it didn’t before.

Second, the Ayers angle ain’t goin’ away after today and the economic problems; October is a long month. The Ayers angle will spread.

Third, and related, the Ayers angle is only the beginning: Rezko, Jim Johnson, Raines, etc. will also come up, and those guys tie Obama to the cause of the financial meltdown…
