Why I remain cheerful about our election prospects, Part LVIII.

It's the little things that reassure.

Little things like this (language warning: click Jake’s link below for a cleaned-up version):

(Sorry, Jake, but I needed the embed.)

4:45 worth of celebrities haranguing the audience about why they shouldn’t vote; why they should vote after all; why they need to go register to vote (they were very, very, very emphatic about this); then why they have to vote. Sarcasm was liberally employed throughout, if you pardon the pun, or perhaps oxymoron; either way, it’s always fun to watch people pick up and try to shake some sense into a voting demographic that isn’t particularly breaking for your particular candidate anyway. Especially when there’s the slightest, most indistinct note of hysteria in the message.

I mean, 4:45? I could have gotten that message clocked in at 30 seconds, tops. Even assuming that I just didn’t break the whole thing down to three different commercials, all playing against each other. As it is, these guys are running the risk of kids turning it off somewhere around 1:00.

I feel stupider for having watched that.

If someone doesn’t care, why do we think that they will make an informed decision.

Oh, wait.

They don’t want them to make an informed decision. Just the one they agree with.

With Much Regret, I Must Not Vote For McCain

I mean Leo Dicaprio is so against it. He’s only like the greatest actor of our generation and he spends so much trying to save old forests and stuff.

…try to bluster, threaten, frighten, cajole, beg, whine, and generally demean themselves in order to get a bunch of twentysomething slackers to get off of the couch and fill out a form, let alone actually use the franchise. I mean, they were so desperate that they even threw in the Second Amendment: that must have been like ground glass to them, seeing as your standard ACLU type counts to ten by saying “1, 3, 4, 5…”

Had to work really hard. “Global Warming”, hey folks, its a natural phenomenon. Biden: “It’s man made..”

It takes a lot of study, study that Gore doesn’t want you to do, that’s why he claims the discussion is over. It takes searching for the information, and finding that temperature leads CO2 increase, not follows. That Gore flipped the line labels in his graph showing CO2 and Temperature correlation, that the Hockey stick graph has been proven to be fraudulent, any data fed into the model results in the hockey stick graph.

Oops, sorry, got off message. I apologize.

Gun control, I wonder if they would be willing to put a sign in the window of their home stating that they are against gun ownership. Darn did it again.

I’d better stop.

19 kids?

UncommonRight Friday, October 3rd at 11:17PM EST (link)

“I got 19 kids, I have never used abortion once.”

I turned it off after that ridiculous remark. What is his point? Or is it just a jab at Sarah Palin?

And “used abortion” ?

Like abortion is some kind of service, like a taxi?

Every one of these celebrity filled videos, from the weird Obama songs to this odd array of nonsense above, just reinforces the disconnect that celebrities have with the rest of the world.

Of course, studies do show that the best way to Rock the Vote is: sarcastic ranting.

I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek opportunity to develop whatever talents God gave me–not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.

You can see some of them physically trying to hold back their raging endorsement of anything that is anti conservative, anti right, anti christian, anti capitalism.

They rail against wealth, big oil, and the way the “few” are so much more wealthy than the “many”, and then go back to their 40 million dollar mansions, bathe in sparkling mountain spring water, and sip the finest wine, patting themselves on the back for doing a “public service”.

Makes me sick to my stomach.

I hate to think that even McCain is in the tank of Obama.

Rod_Patrick (Diary) Saturday, October 4th at 2:12AM EST (link)

Below is the verbiage of Rush Limbaugh:

RUSH: Holy cow! Hubba hubba, dooba dooba. Now, Ms. Palin, while you’re at it, could you also call Senator McCain, ’cause she had a great answer on global warming last night. Did you guys see this? This story cleared about six o’clock last night, when I was en route. I was in the sky, the wild blue yonder headed west to San Antonio. It’s a Reuters story: “McCain Eyes Potential Treasury Pick.” I said, “Oh.” So I read it. I’m not surprised he’s mentioning a bunch like Meg Whitman or Warren Buffett. Not surprised. But can I get to the last paragraph of this? That’s nothing. Warren Buffett’s nothing. “Asked if he would be a visible presence in international talks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and replace the Kyoto Protocol, McCain, who has clashed with fellow Republicans over climate change, said he would do ‘whatever is necessary to try to move forward.’

Al Gore? Common!

Campaign closing in Michigan without even informing Palin first of the decision…a battleground state? And McCain camp is working in California? Common!

What is McCain thinking?

Sorry, but wrt to the video, it really sucks.
