With all those retirees there. Apparently Obama doesn’t count Florida in his 50-state plan. It must be one of those other seven he decided to let us have without a fight.

I don’t think this is going to cause us liberals to go nuts. The Obama ad this responds to was a cheap shot. We all know that. It reveals a bit of desperation on the campaign’s part to have gone after McCain on this issue REGARDLESS of why McCain is illiterate. Obama has to struggle against the public’s impression that Dem candidates avoid the knife fights in the mud at their own peril–so he hits below the belt when he’s behind in the polls. That’s going to happen through November 4th and most liberals accept the consequences–Republicans will start playing the same victim card the Dems tried to play against Rove for the last eight years.

In any case, the only reason I think this ad is legit is because one cheap shot deserves another. The Obama campaign obviously didn’t know McCain’s disabilities had anything to do with his inability to use a computer. Obama goes out of his way, as we all do, to respect the fact that McCain made a huge sacrifice–McCain is one of the most honorable men in politics today (regardless of the fact that he, like everyone before him, has to play the political game and do some ugly stuff at the margins). Almost everyone who sees this ad, left or right, knows that the Obama campaign found out about link between McCain’s injuries and his computer skills AFTER they put out their ad. So it’s not a great ad, but it’s a legit move.

Well… (frothing at mouth, bark) I didn’t know that McCain’s war injuries (scream, set hair on fire) made typing such a problem (woof woof). So when the McCain campaign (grrrr WooHOO) proudly announces that McCain is using his Blackberry regularly, he’s suffering?
Or folks like Stephen Hawking (paralyzed) couldn’t use the computer because … oh wait, he does.
Maybe McCain has never needed to type, to use the computer, drive, make his own bed or put gas in his car since he married Cindy? He’s delegated/hired others to do these tasks because he’s part of the 70+ year old rich elite who graduated at the very bottom of his college class — he has no inclination or need to be curious about computers, the Internet or Blackberries.
