Actually, Ben Smith: if they manage to get Palin’s invitation revoked…

...then the word that you're looking for is "tawdry."

Not “complicated.”

Bad enough that Clinton’s dropped the anti-Ahmadinejad protest. Now we’re hearing that partisan political pressure has been put on the protest group:

There’s a “major push to disinvite Palin, if Obama/Biden don’t attend,” the source says.

Via Allahpundit. I think that it’s pretty clear now precisely why Clinton dropped this event, isn’t it? One way or the other, it leads back to the Obama campaign – because there’s no reason besides mere political partisanship to push getting Palin off the podium. I suppose that this is more “post-partisanship” on the Democrats’ part, which is apparently defined as “partisanship so entrenched that it’s been literally pounded into the ground.”

Not to go all New Jersey on you folks, but: Oy.

PS: Oh, yes. Sarah’s response:

“Governor Palin believes that the danger of a nuclear Iran is greater than party or politics. She hopes that all parties can rally together in opposition to this grave threat,” says spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt.

Translation: she can be disinvited, but be damned if she’ll be scared away.

I do believe that it is safe to assume that Sarah Palin has larger stones than Hillary Clinton.

Getting Obama elected is the least of her concerns here. Her goal is to have him lose while seeming to support him fully. Holding hands with Palin would make it seem like she’s not helping, which would hurt her in 2012. Besides, she doesn’t really want any more company in the female Presidential contender tent.

Wound Palin, but make it look as if Barack’s people did it.

Pallin, however, won’t back down, so she needs to make it look as if Barack’s people made her back down. Palin will show and speak unless specifically disinvited by the UJA. I don’t think that will happen. Full court press by Rudy, McCain, etc. Expect McCain to invite himself.

She pulled out of the event too hastily. Had she went to the event with Palin, she would have sucked all of the O2 from Barack’s day.
