Eagleton Watch?

No, not Palin.

Now that Joe Biden is rapidly becoming “Joe Who?” in this campaign, there’s some rampant speculation – with malice assuredly aforethought – about when/if Obama is going to pull an Eagleton – although I prefer the more up-to-date of phrase “to pull a Torricelli” – on this particular albatross{*}.

Glenn Reynolds is skeptical that it would even happen.

Patterico is down with the notion, but doesn’t have a date in mind.

Allahpundit’s too busy giggling at the way that GOP Congressional candidates want Palin stumping for them now (and they’ll take her husband, if she’s not available) to care much about Biden anyway.

John Hawkins doesn’t care much, either, but that’s because he’s still warming up from being out there in the cold until recently (glad you’re back, John. We missed you).

Ace of Spades? When he isn’t trying to beat Allahpundit in ironic use of the term “Eagleton” he’s putting up scary pictures (well, scary for some).

Don Surber’s got a date picked out already.

And Mortman’s just wondering why nobody likes Biden all that much.

Me? Tell you the truth, either way’s fine. The mistake was made when Obama lost his nerve and picked Joe Biden for the spot; all that’s left now is seeing which way that mistake plays out.

{*}Because it was ironically funny, that’s why.

It won't happen...

thank God. Biden’s mediocrity is a feature rather than a bug to a megalomaniac. Besides, Hillary isn’t about to jump on a sinking ship.

It doesn’t matter. Either way, we have an epic win on our hands.

Biden was a bad pick, but Opossum can’t turn back time. Too bad, so sad.

Forcing a dilemma like this on Obama

septembergurl (Diary) Monday, September 8th at 11:40PM EST (link)

–whether to dump Clueless Joe or not — was exactly the point of mcCain’s brilliant game-changing pick of Palin for VP. Whether he dumps Joe or doubles down on him (“I’m behind him a thousand percent” were McGovern’s words before he pulled the plug on Eagleton) doesn’t matter. The point is they have to think about it, and argue about it and test market it and waste time on trial balloons, etc.

All time they should be spending on offense rather than defense.

I think the VP debate will be key. On that topic, I recommend the video & audio of Palin’s debates with Murkowski and Knowles during the Alaska Gov election (they are on CSPAN). She won the primary and the general and in these debates you see why.

I’m reminded of the scene in the movie “Jaws” where Chief Brody, Quint and the Richard Dreyfuss guy go out in Quint’s boat to hunt the shark.

They’ve seen the shark’s work and they’re nervous but have no idea what they’re up against. Brody throws out some chum and they wait to harpoon him or whatever, suddenly the shark looms up behind them, grabs the bait, the harpoon, chomps part of the boat and swims off.

chief Brody utters the classic line:
“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

You’e gonna need a bigger boat, Joe

Given Obama's decision making skills...

I’m betting that he picks Dennis Kucinich to replace Biden.

Yes but what if....

..he dumps Joe and picks Hillary?

If she would do it now?

Could make this thing do another turn around, no?

Hillary can make it this time! Thanks to Sarah.

She’s also narcissistic and a VP position will at least boost her ego. Never mind how the public will take this abomination.

If Obama dumps Biden and picks Hillary, he will win. However, do they need the DNC to approve it formally?

Even if.....

…..he dumps Biden and picks Hillary, McCain can still win. Just imagine….

Sarah Palin, BIG boost for the Republicans.

Having another Clinton on the ticket to run against, BIGGEST boost of all.

Hey Rod,

Nice to finally e-meet you in e-person. I frankly don’t think Hillary would take the deck job on a sinking ship. After her lackluster speech today, it looks like her eyes are firmly planted on 2012.

But Kucinich will be a wacko choice. If Obama does that, he will push all Conservatives to become “Guerillas”, not just “Activists”.

Remember, we’re still asking this wacko Kucinich to make a public apology for filing an impeachment case against the President.

If this happens, I think they will have to try to do it covertly. Biden will have to come up with a ‘family’ issue or possibly a medical condition like a hair plug blow out, or something of that sort. Obama will have to have cover. Obama will have to promise Biden something big like Senate Majority Leader, or maybe Sec of State or Defence, or giving him credit for all of Shakespear’s writings. Obama can’t be seen as ‘dumping’ Biden It would make him look indecisive (ha ha! what a joke). Would it be a game changer to have Hillary on the Dems ticket? Maybe for some, but I think Sarah has made such an impact in such a short time that our ticket would maintain momentum. There really isn’t all that much time left. I really hope he keeps Biden. I want to see Sarah Palin give Biden the public asswhoopin’ at the debates he so dearly deserves (what an arrogant man he is). Man it’s great to be on RS!

I guffawed at that phrase.

This, however, is pure gold – You’re gonna need a bigger boat, Joe.

I wasn’t serious about Kucinich. It’s just that Obama hasn’t seemed to be thinking to clearly lately, if he ever has.

Wow, leave it to the Liberal Main stream media (LMSM), they can not only spin a story, but they can make it seem like the truth when it comes to Barack Obama. I am starting to view the media in a different light, and they cannot be trusted, and I am seeing a pattern that is grossly biased, one sided, and is totally untrue. I cannot believe that when the media lies, why are they not help accountable. What happened to Journalistic integrity, checking your sources to make sure that they are true?!! I no longer trust the media, and the only news I will listen to is Fox and CNN. Fox at least presents both sides of the story. The others are so biased by Obama, that they cannot report accurately. I can see in their articles, they slam the Republicans and stroke the Democrats. When they are reporting on the Dems, they make him seem like he is the best thing since toilet paper, and slam on the repubs. When they report on the Repubs, they say only bad and biased things, and then still stroke Obama.
Do people realize that the President is only one person, and the Congress (Democratic Congress) is many people. Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts have sat on their hands to make it seem like it’s a Republican problem, but it is definately a Democratic problem. They sit and play partisan politics while Americans suffer. Not only is that Selfish, but irresponsible.
Since the media can’t be trusted, I’m starting to see what Bush has done in a different light. I’m starting to look through the media’s Bull SH*t (pardon my french) and see the accomplishments of bush, and some things he has no control over. The media has overplayed their hand, and now their glass ceiling is caving, and now they can’t be trusted. They will never be trusted again unless the Federal Government steps in to limit what media can report…no necessarily what they report, but the manner in which they do it. They will need to confirm a source and assure the reader that it is the truth, or else they won’t be able to report anything that is not the truth.
I find it interesting that Obama is bringing up the TRUTH, or the lack of it in politics. What a crock. What is it called when the LIAR calls others Liar’s? It’s called insanity, and he is doing that because his campaign is in trouble, and his attacks are continuing to attack Governor Palin. Does he not realize that the backlash will be severe?
It’s funny. Barack said that “you cannot make things up. You cannot make yourself something your not. You cannot build yourself up with nothing to show for it.” Sounds like Obama is describing himself. Politicians attack when they are in trouble. They attack when they are losing. They attack when all else fails. Obama is attacking because he is losing. He is attacking because he does not want to talk about the issues. He is attacking because that’s all he knows how to do, because that is what his advisors tell him to do. What kind of a leader will he make listening to those sort of people??? Bad judgement all around, and people are starting to see through Obama’s fascade. He’s a fake and a phony, and is no leader. He is an empty suit, and is not ready to lead, but he is ready to sling mud.
Obama is not for change. McCain is for change, and Obama is a follower. He follows every move McCain does, and repeats what McCain does. That is sad.

No Way

Anemicscarecrow Tuesday, September 9th at 7:56AM EST (link)

There is no way he dumps Biden at this point. It would be political suicide. First, it would be seen as a sign of desperation. Second, the only replacement that could reignite his campaign would be Hillary. And, I think she would turn him down seeing a probable Obama loss as better for political career than a 50/50 chance for the Veep slot.
