Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been really around in the last couple of days. Some of you may have also noticed that I may have seemed slightly behind, as if there was something else going on with me right now. I’m sorry to have to say that if you did, there was a reason for it; and I can guarantee that many of you will be personally regretful to see what I’m about to write.
Oh, man. There’s no real way to avoid lessening the impact of this, so let me just rip off the bandage here:

Got kicked to the curb by Norwegian Cruise Lines
blooch Sunday, August 17th at 8:10AM EST (link)in Honolulu in 2002, because the 1-yr-old twins only had copies of their birth certificates, and not passports. After hailing a taxi, spending the night in a dump and a few phone calls, we spent the week at Sheraton Waikiki for free courtesy of Costco Travel, which had misinformed us on the required documentation. Kudos to Costco, Norwalk to Norwegian.
One of our evening diversions was watching the hookers with binoculars while we drank on the balcony…good times.

We still haven’t gotten around to trying a Pacific cruise again, but you’re right, an Obama administration would be a good time to take one. January ’09 in the South Pacific would be a good time to be away, but we’re limited by school schedules.
I’m shooting for the Mediterranean next Summer, and I hope none of the bad actors in the Middle East try to test the new president then.
