And I do like myself a challenge.

By now you’ve all heard about how the Obama campaign got its math wrong about how much money McCain raised from the oil industry.

But let’s say that they did raise $2 million.

If that money’s tainted, then why did Obama take 400 grand of it himself?

If it’s not, then why is he trying to scare you?

Is he just mad because the oil industry doesn’t like rewarding looters?

Heck, did it with ten seconds to spare.

I just had to sit through one of Obama’s commercials. What a total load of crap. Obama is accusing McCain of contributing to high gas prices by opposing alternative energy.

Not only is it a load of crap no one is going to buy, it is a lousy commercial!! Campaign of inevitability my ass. Where did he get these clowns running his campaign?

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but I’d love to see someone explain why the oil companies deserve to be taxed this way?

Is it because they’re not already paying taxes (they are and at a higher rate than most businesses), because they’re colluding to keep the prices up (an endless string of congressional investigations has failed to find any evidence), because it thier current profits are a “windfall” that they didn’t earn (several billions of dollars worth of capital investment and payroll says otherwise, and besides, no one’s proposing to tax Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, or Jay Rockefeller to the poor house). Or is it just because “they can afford it”? If that’s the case, we should be taxing every lobbyist in Washington at the same rate.

Obama was The One in 2008.
He’ll be a BIGGER one in 2012.

…have been more profitable recently not because of anything they’ve done, but simply because they happen to own holes in the ground that contain black stuff that has become more valuable all by itself.

And shouldn’t those unearned profits be used to benefit the people that have to pay higher prices in order to generate them?

Of course he ignores the fact that you don’t own holes full of oil unless you invest heavily to find, drill, and develop them, and to hold on to them during the periods when oil prices are low.

And I can’t even wrap my head around the idea that it’s somehow unfair for things to be expensive because they’re in demand.

Obama thinks about economics basically the same way that high school kids do. Hmm, maybe that’s why he appeals to certain people.
