Just because there isn't one now doesn't mean one can't be formed around a charismatic leader with an agenda some people will follow.

Believe me, I'm basically imbedded in a bastion of the American Left, and they would jump at the chance to ditch the Democrats to vote Green, Socialist, Progressive... whatever party Barak could form around himself if the Dems kicked him out.

The battle over Michigan and Florida was less about seating the delegates than it was about how the delegates were to be allocated, in the absence of bona fide primary races. The Clinton supporters were incensed that the Rules Committeee awarded Obama delegates that were, effectively, robbed from her. Yes, yes, she declined to remove her name from the Michigan ballot, even though all the other Dem candidates did. But Obama was given more than the "Uncommitted" vote. Hillary did receive votes, but was not awarded delagates accordingly. It's a similar story in Florida.

So, if the delegations are to be fully seated, how are their votes to be cast? This fight isn't over yet. Obama may be trying a peace offering, but this is only the opening act so far.

Since he won the primary and the last ballot was cast in Puerto Rico. That suggests to me that camp Obama knew all along they would do this but give it two months so that it was not such a hot issue in voters minds.

Had he done this before 6/3/08, Clinton would have won. And, may I take this opportunity to point out that he did not win the popular vote in that primary either.

Yet another meaningless stab at feigning the high road by Obama while simply acting in what is in his own political interest.

these same sentiments. I don’t honestly believe this will happen, but there’s a part of me that thinks it *could * happen. Especially if Obama stays flat in the polls or actually starts dipping (and he eats his other leg, to boot).
My question is – and Moe sums up the answer pretty well – but, what damage would the Dems be looking at, if the superdelegets were to nominate Clinton? I also submit, that changing candidates at the convention would throw McCain’s camp into some chaos. The dynamics would change overnight. The question is, could the Dem Party overcome the immediately aftermath of such a coup?

...since 2000. 2002 surprised them; 2004 infuriated them; and 2006 frustrated them (all the more because they thought that they had actually accomplished something by taking away Congress). If Obama keeps sliding off of the beam, what does he have to offer them?

Besides: his major supporters are either: African-Americans, who won't go anywhere else in large enough percentages to have the Democrats lose states, either; urban liberals, who can easily enough con themselves into believing that they wanted what actually happened all along, really (God knows this candidate has given them enough practice in that skill already); and youth voters, who nobody sane relies on in an election anyway. So, not much actual risk there.

If the superdelegates AT SUCH A LATE DATE, after hearing so much about "Hype and Change" if the nomination was taken away from him now -- she would lose ALL of the youth vote and ALL of the minority vote.

Granted, there are a whole lot of old white women -- but that will NOT be enough to offset the millions of votes she would lose.

Take it away from Obamessiah now, and The Democrats will be revolting!

Sen. Clinton could, as in maybe, edge-out Sen. McCain in November, because she's a known commodity, I believe her negatives would be immediately resurrected, and given the choice between Sen. McCain and Sen. Clinton, the American people would choose a true war-hero and divided government over another Clinton presidency.

Of course, that's provided the nutroots don't revolt because they feel they've been betrayed by the Washington establishment and Democratic insiders.

Under that circumstance, it's Sen. McCain in a landslide.

Obama has turned flip flopping into an art form. He has done it so often, on every issue(except, of course, his wonderfulness), that he should not bother with positions, just tell the the public up front that it’s whatever I say, whenever I say it because I say so.
